Berwick Lodge is an upscale country-house retreat in lush, secluded surroundings. Set on a wooded hillside amid 18 acres of parkland, this grand hotel occupies an imposing manor house with an ornate red-brick façade, dating from the 1890s. It's within a 10-minute drive of both 18th-century Blaise Castle, home to an eclectic museum, and big-name shopping brands at The Mall at Cribbs Causeway. Bristol's vibrant city centre is 30 minutes' drive from the hotel.
Guests will find a lavish ambience to Berwick Lodge's interiors, where dark wood-panelled walls, intricate carvings and stately furnishings distinguish the lounges and public areas. Pillared archways lead into the hotel's refined restaurant, which features crystal chandeliers, open fireplaces and floor-to-ceiling windows with garden views and serves modern British cuisine and afternoon tea. The elegant tree-lined grounds are dotted with wrought iron lanterns and include a majestic fountain.
Opulence runs throughout Berwick Lodge's 14 rooms, which offer antique-style furniture, richly patterned fabrics and elaborate bedsteads. All the rooms come with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Upgraded rooms add claw-foot baths and sitting areas, while suites have individual touches such as wood-beamed ceilings, balconies, marble showers and mosaic-tiled bathrooms with heated floors. Some rooms are housed in the converted stable block next to the lodge.
