Jersey Airport, a short journey west of the capital, St Helier, is serviced from 40 scheduled and charter-flight departure points across the British isles at peak times. If bringing your own car, ferry services reach the island in under four hours from Poole or Weymouth. The ferry ports are a short walk from central St Helier and the hotel is about a 15-minute car ride from here.

Set overlooking the picturesque harbour of St Aubin, Somerville Hotel's location immediately impresses guests. It doesn't stop there either -- there’s a terrace to enjoy the superb views, manicured gardens to potter around, and a small outdoor pool to remind you you’re on a (comparatively) balmy island, as opposed to mainland UK.

St Aubin is a few minutes' walk away and is one of the prettiest villages on the island. Explore the beach and yachting harbour, plus there are plenty of bars and more restaurants off its cobbled streets. The island’s capital, St Helier, is a 15-minute drive away.

Rooms are well presented and come with views inland or across St Aubin’s bay. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel and there are tea- and coffee-making facilities in every room. Consider splashing out on one of the three Superior Sea View rooms, each with their own private terrace. You’ll have the harbour views all to yourself.

Dining out is a big part of a stay on foodie Jersey, and the hotel’s Tides restaurant was granted a Taste Gold Award in 2013 from VisitEngland. Local produce plays a big part in the menu, including seared Jersey scallops, soufflé of Jersey blue cheese and line-caught Jersey sea bass. Given the closeness of France, the predominance of French wines on the restaurant’s long list is unsurprising but there are also plenty of New World bottles.
