Why We Love This Hotel

  • Cape May is listed as one of New Jersey's Best Beaches and America's Most Beautiful Coastal Views (Travel + Leisure)
  • Rooms here come with balconies (great for taking in the views), as well as plush robes and Carrera marble-style bathrooms
  • Let's not forget the location: the hotel sits across the street from the ocean; it's also less than a mile into Cape May's historic downtown
  • Stay with confidence — read more about the hotel's enhanced safety and cleaning procedures

Sitting across the street from the beach and less than a mile from downtown, Icona Cape May feels like a modern — and very refreshing — twist on the Jersey Shore's historic inns: The hotel itself has loads of classically beachy touches, like the nautical blue-and-white color palette and prominent awnings, alongside contemporary design elements like the chic all-white furnishings and huge picture windows in guest rooms.

Speaking of, rooms here are decked out with pillow-top mattresses and bespoke leather headboards (handy when working or reading from bed). Kitchenettes with microwave-minifridge combos and flat-panel TVs come standard as well. In the bathrooms, you'll find glass-enclosed showers with Carrera marble-style tiling, organic bath amenities and plush robes.

The hotel is walkable to loads of boutique shopping and restaurants — we're especially fond of the seafood pasta at Tisha's on Washington Street. There's also complimentary shuttle service to the hotel's sister property, ICONA Diamond Beach, which offers a full-service restaurant. Families may want to visit Cape May Zoo, a 20-minute drive away, open year-round and free of charge. Atlantic City is about an hour north of the hotel.

Due to renovations, we were not able to access the restaurant at their companion property. However, the free shuttle service got us to great area restaurants

Always a pleasant stay at the Icona. Stayed in Room 102, clean, fresh linens, modern, but a little smaller than other rooms I have stayed at before.

We really enjoyed having a balcony that we could see a side view of the ocean from (was not all that windy that we could even eat out on the balcony). This location has beach access right across the street from the hotel which was very convenient. They would provide beach chairs if you wanted from 9 am to 5:00 pm. Free Parking on location was great (based on first come service which is not a problem in off season). Bedding and towels were above average. Room had a mini-refrigerator, microwave, a Keurig single cup coffee system, cups, mugs, and silverware but no plates (a can opener and a Sharpe knife was also provided). They provided coffee, sugar and cream as well. There was a nice well light counter to prepare and eat your food on. The view from the hotel was ok.

Hotel location was just a block past the east end of the board walk (which is 1.4 miles long). The hotel does not have a restaurant or a fitness center on site. They provide shuttle service from 9am to 5 pm to places in town (hours could be later on the weekend). Most restaurant locations are in the middle area of the board walk. Looking for Pizza must try Louie's Pizza on Gurney Street. You will not regret it. Also try George's Place on Beach Ave (center of board walk) they serve all three meals. Their fries are awesome.

Great location! Loved the Shuttle service available to nearby restaurants. Wonderful area to walk along the beach path/sidewalk to lots of shops and restaurants. The beach chair service was awesome also! Shout out to Christian who did a great job for us with the chairs! Rooms were clean and had more space than traditional hotel rooms with small table, 2 chairs and small serving/bar area with mini-fridge. Some rooms have a wet bar in them. We had a large bathroom also, but our friends next door had a very, very small bathroom. Guest agents and housekeeping staff were awesome! Pool wasn't usable at the time due to a maintenance issue, but we enjoyed the beach and got to see dolphins swim nearby!

We had an excellent experience!! Thank you very much!! The staff were very friendly and helped with whatever I asked. We had a few problems in the room, but the staff were always willing and able to fix them. Location was a bit further than I expected, but with the shuttle available....all was great!
