Located a 90-minute drive north of Dallas, The Tanglewood Resort offers a scenic retreat overlooking one of Texas's largest reservoirs, which is "well-known for its champion bass fishing, sailing, camping and hiking" (Forbes).
Rooms are fresh from a renovation completed in April 2016 and come with complimentary Wi-Fi. For scenic views of Lake Texoma, be sure to upgrade to a Lakeview room.
On-site amenities abound, as guests can tee off at the property's private Arnold Palmer-designed 18-hole championship golf course, take a dip in one of the resort's three pools or relax at the full-service spa. There are two restaurants, with the Commodore Room offering more upscale fare and Skooners Vacation Bar & Grill serving up casual all-American favorites.
For further exploring afield, the Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge sits a 20-minute drive from the property and offers some of the area's best bird and wildlife watching. For a little more adventure, drive just five minutes from the resort to try your hand at operating a 26-ton excavator or bulldozer at Pottsboro's new Extreme Sandbox location, featured on an episode of "Shark Tank."
