Paris is "a hub for hedonists, a wellspring of inspiration for artists, and a moveable feast for history buffs", says Afar Magazine. Experience all of this while staying at the Hotel Madeleine Plaza on the Place de la Madeleine, near Opéra. The hotel faces the 19th-century Madeleine church, which resembles a Roman temple, and is surrounded by high-end food shops, such as Hédiard and Fauchon.
It is a 10-minute walk from Paris's opera house and the Place de la Concorde -- Paris's largest square, which has an Egyptian obelisk and two fountains. From here, you can wander through the Jardin des Tuileries to the Musée du Louvre, which is home to Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa (20 minutes' walk). Alternatively, visit the Musée d'Orsay (20 minutes' walk) or Monet's Water Lilies at the Musée de l'Orangerie (15 minutes' walk). In the opposite direction you'll find the Champs-Elysées, which leads to the Arc de Triomphe, 30 minutes' walk away.
An American buffet breakfast is served daily in the hotel's breakfast room. The hotel also has a bar.
The hotel has modern country-style rooms. Classic Rooms are petite at 15 metres square, and some rooms have balconies looking out over the courtyard or Rue Tronchet. Superior Rooms are larger, and some have views over the Place de la Madeleine. Wi-Fi is free.
