This design-focused hotel is in the heart of Istanbul's compact Sultanahmet district, making it a good base from which to explore the area's many historic sights and attractions. Hagia Sofia, with its impressive dome and graceful minarets, is just 500 metres from the hotel. The fascinating Topkapı Palace complex, which was once an important royal residence for Ottoman sultans, is around a kilometre away. The colourful Grand Bazaar, which is one of the oldest and largest covered markets in the world, is also within walking distance -- it houses more than 4,000 shops and stalls selling everything from hand-painted ceramics and jewellery to exotic spices and textiles.
There are plenty of restaurants in Sultanahmet serving everything from traditional meze and kebabs, to fast food and fresh seafood -- the hotel also has its own smart restaurant.
The contemporary lobby is characterised by its bold design and has a feature fireplace. Guests are able to use the facilities (including a swimming pool, a spa and a gym) at the hotel's nearby sister property, the Sura Hagia Sophia Hotel.
The 60 comfortable bedrooms are arranged over four floors, each with a different design influence. The Amber Floor is decorated with a colour scheme of gold and cream, while the Turquoise Floor has accents of bronze and teal. The Lapis Floor features deep plum slate and warm gold. Signature tones on the Silver Floor include charcoal grey and silver with pops of vibrant pink. Some of the higher-category rooms have features such as free-standing baths and balconies.
