The Hanseatic Hotel (Det Hanseatiske Hotel), in the heart of Bergen, is housed in a traditional building that dates back to the early 1700s and is on UNESCO's World Heritage List. The city is surrounded by mountains and is considered the gateway to the fjords. The hotel is in the Bryggen area, just moments from the historic wharf, which is lined with picturesque and colourful wooden buildings.

The city centre is compact and many attractions are within walking distance of the hotel. The famous fish market (Fisketorget) is just a few minutes away, and the Floibanen Funicular, which travels up Mount Floyen, where you can find excellent hiking opportunities and incredible city views, is just 160 metres from the hotel.

The hotel has three restaurants to choose from. The FG Restaurant & Bar is a modern brasserie with exposed woodwork and contemporary décor. It specialises in fish and meat dishes, including its signature handmade burgers. With its more classic décor, the Finnegaardsstuene Restaurant offers a refined setting for fine dining. The hotel's Casa Del Toro Restaurant is billed as Bergen's only Tex-Mex restaurant. It offers a relaxed setting for popular dishes including handmade nachos, quesadillas and fajitas. The buffet breakfast, which includes delicacies such as smoked salmon and Serrano ham, is served in the FG Restaurant.

Due to the historic nature of the building, each of the 37 characterful bedrooms is unique, and some have original features such as exposed timber walls.
