The Best Western Royal Clifton Hotel & Spa is in the Victorian seaside town of Southport, in a prime position overlooking King's Gardens and the sea.
The town is on the Sefton Coast, home to over 15 miles of beaches and dunes, and is known for its Grade II-listed iron pier -- said to be the second longest in the UK.
The traditional hotel is near the Grade II-listed Wayfarers Shopping Arcade on Lord Street. The Ribble Estuary National Nature Reserve is a 10-minute drive away from the hotel and Crosby Beach, home of Antony Gormley's "Another Place" sculptures, is half an hour away.
Southport is less than an hour's drive from Liverpool, for bars, restaurants, and museums including Tate Liverpool and The Beatles Story.
The hotel's Pavilion Restaurant serves classic British dishes. Drinks and light snacks are available in the Conservatory Bar and the Chatsworth Bar.
The hotel also has a health club (free for guests), with an indoor pool, a Jacuzzi, a sauna, a steam room and a gym.
"Bedrooms range in size and style, but all are comfortable and thoughtfully equipped", according to The AA Hotel Guide 2017.
