Overview

Haughton Hall Hotel & Leisure Club is an 18th-century property set in 35 acres of private woodlands and gardens in the Shropshire countryside. The Grade II-listed property is set on the outskirts of Shifnal, a market town four miles east of Telford.

Shrewsbury, known for being Charles Darwin's birth town, is a 30-minute drive away. It is home to timber-framed, black-and-white medieval buildings and Shrewsbury Castle. Other local attractions include The Iron Bridge & Tollhouse, the Royal Airforce Museum Cosford, Blists Hill Victorian Town and National Trust-run Attingham Park -- all within a 20-minute drive of the hotel. Walkers and cyclists can head to the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is 20 minutes' drive from the hotel.

There is a leisure club, with an indoor pool, a sauna, a steam room, an outdoor tennis court (open all year, weather permitting), a gym and a FootGolf course. Guests can eat in the Lounge Bar or Oliver's Restaurant, and afternoon tea is served daily from 1-4:30pm. There is also a fishing lake in the grounds.

Enjoyed Most: Swimming pull
Other Comments: Didn't like that no one warned us that they only serve cooked breakfast until 9.30 even though breakfast time was till 10.30. So we were sat at the table at 9.25, ordered coffee and porridge and when were ready to order breakfast at 9.35 we were told that now it is impossible. No apology or whatsoever.

Enjoyed Most: The staff were friendly helpful and all spoke and understood English. My hubby said best cooked breakfast he had in ages. it was cooked to order and delicious. Plenty of toast and extra tea/coffee was offered. The evening meal and bottle of wine as part of our deal were also great. I asked to mix and match bits of a meal and they were very accomodating
Other Comments: Not a large country house or huge grand entrance but still had character, sad our room was in the new addition, but it was lovely and warm, comfy bed not huge but big enough for us. The leisure centre is seperate so too cold to venture there for us

Enjoyed Most: I had an accident with the shower in our room, and this was replaced the next day
Other Comments: Overall cleanliness of main areas could have been better, cigarette butts and packet on front door steps did not create a good first impression.
