Why We Love It

  • Contemporary rooms and suites in the heart of Palm Springs
  • Many rooms have private balconies perfect for enjoying the scenic desert views
  • Spend time with Mother Nature hiking the nearby trails at Indian Canyons
  • Work on lowering your handicap on any of the 100+ area golf courses

The Hyatt Palm Springs fits right in with the throwback-60s style this resort town is famous for. The concrete atrium-style hotel of mostly suites, has an angular shape that makes it look like it was built as a geometry project.

Inside, the hotel is more modern chic than retro with desert tones of chocolate brown and burnt orange. Take time to stop and examine the portraits lining the lobby hallways of famous actors from films shown at the annual Palm Springs Film Festival.

If you’re more concerned with what’s outside in nature than what’s inside a theatre, the hiking and biking trails of Indian Canyons are a 10-minute drive away. Or, work on lowering your handicap on any of the 100-plus area golf courses within the area.

Less active pursuits include lounging by the pool deck, shopping or eating along Palm Springs’ main thoroughfare, Palm Canyon Drive. The hotel is located in the heart of the action, just steps away from the boutiques, cafes and galleries along this road.

It’s worth it to upgrade to one of the extra-roomy suites for the scenic views, private balconies and plenty of space to store your golf clubs. Although the rooms lack flair, they are clean and modern.

No internet available for me Reception had extremely low quality beverages and appetizers--cheap wine, tired vegetables, processed cheese, plastic glasses Pool hours were restrictive. Early AM options were taken up with pool maintenance

The massive room, inviting pool and central location made this our favorite part of a two-week California trip -- despite 108-degree temperatures. Several staff went out of their way to welcome us.

The 4-5 pm reception was a nice amenity but could have been improved with a better beverage selection. We were there on Weds-Fri. in July/off-season. More extras seems to be offered on the weekends (Fri-Sun)

Now for the is a bit overpriced. I get the “more expensive vacation” factor with the Hyatt name but there’s never a need to gouge...there’s no parking to speak of so instead you charge $25 per day for valet..??!! Then there’s the price of the food prepared at the hotel restaurant. $27.00 for a piece of chicken and mashed potatoes...??!! Gouging at its best!!! Why? I found that disappointing.

The valet guys were courteous and helpful.

Travelzoo sold it as "remodeled"...the room smelled of mildew combined with smoke...stuffy and VERY uncomfortable beds. Besides dirty on arrival. Tissue on the floor, a Childs ring, crumbs still on carpeting, dirty sliding door windows. They brought cleaning crew up again because they didn't want to "upgrade" us to another room. If they did...the Hyatt and Travelzoo wouldn't be hearing that I will never go there again and I will never trust TRAVELZOO!

The voucher was advertised as evening happy hour with wine, beer and cocktail of the day. No cocktail offered. The “ complimentary self-parking” was street parking or public lot where available.
