Warm sunshine, gourmet cuisine and some of the best sunsets you'll ever see -- there are many reasons why travellers keep coming back to Santorini. Perched on the edge of volcanic cliffs overlooking the famous caldera and Nea Kameni volcano, the Celestia Grand is a collection of seven luxury villas that provide an ideal base for exploring this spectacular island.
There is a complimentary shuttle that runs to Fira four times a day in high season (from 9:15am-10pm), or it is a 10-minute taxi ride. The pretty clifftop village of Oia, in the north of the island, is a 30-minute drive away and the old port is less than five miles away.
Guests are welcomed with fruit and wine by general manager Nico. The restaurant serves an extensive breakfast buffet -- expect eggs to order, crêpes, yoghurt, honey, cheese, cereals and freshly squeezed orange juice. Lunch and dinner are also available during high season, and there is a supermarket a short walk away.
The villas vary in size but all are modern with wooden floors and white furniture. Each has its own private freshwater pool or hot tub as well as air conditioning, and Wi-Fi is free throughout. The Junior Suite is open plan and has a non-heated whirlpool overlooking the harbour. Upgrade to the Erotas Suite for a private swimming pool, kitchenette and balcony overlooking the caldera cliff. The Sapphire Villa is the most impressive, perched on the cliff edge with an expansive private terrace and a private swimming pool. It is also the largest villa and can accommodate up to six people.
