Set between York’s two rivers (the Ouse and the Foss) and facing the medieval Clifford’s Tower, the 4-star Hilton York hotel is perfectly placed to visit the city’s main attractions.
York Minster, a striking Gothic cathedral with huge stained glass windows, is an 10-minute walk away, while both the York Dungeon and the Jorvik Viking Centre are a 3-minute stroll from the hotel. Slightly further is the famed York Racecourse, just 10 minutes away by car. If you want to explore the wider area, the North York Moors and the coastal towns of Scarborough and Bridlington are around an hour away.
York has plenty of restaurants to explore, but if you’re sticking to the hotel, there’s a choice of drinking and dining options. Towers Restaurant has views of Clifford’s Tower -- the menu features popular dishes such as pizzas, curries, fish and chips, and roast chicken. Breakfast is also served here. Just around the corner from the main building is Applejack’s, a colourful American-style diner and sports bar. On the ground floor is Towers Lounge and Bar, a casual spot for a relaxing pre or post-dinner drink -- and more of those tower views.
Typically for a Hilton, décor is classically stylish throughout. Rooms have flat-screen TVs and on-demand movies -- some offer city views. There’s a fee for WiFi. Family Rooms are available, and some Deluxe Rooms have balconies. Additional amenities in upgraded rooms and suites include mineral water, wine, fruit and chocolate as well as complimentary bathrobes and slippers.
