About the Hotel
Why We Love This Hotel
- The sleek 2015 renovation makes this mid-range chain hotel feel like a W but with a low-key crowd
- All staff -- front desk, bartenders, valets -- are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable
- Kid-friendly with noise machines and darkening shades in every room
- Located two blocks from River Street, downtown’s shopping and entertainment mecca
Renovated in 2015, the DoubleTree by Hilton Historic Savannah incorporates bright colors and provides a more contemporary look and feel inside while maintaining the original southern architecture and charm outside.
Staff members are often acknowledged by guests for their friendliness and service, from front-desk staff to valets and bartenders. Even those who work behind the scenes take a sincere interest in how guests are enjoying their stay.
Like other DoubleTree locations, cookies are served on arrival, and guests can look forward to cocktail hour after a long day of sightseeing. Ice-cold water is available near the entrance to combat the Georgia heat. Light sleepers or those with young children appreciate noise machines in every room and adjustable darkening shades to keep the light out.
River Street is two blocks away, so those interested in sightseeing can visit century-old buildings and cotton warehouses that have been converted into antique shops, boutiques, galleries, nightspots, brew pubs and restaurants. Ships traveling on the river are also a constant; Savannah is one of the busiest ports in America.
