The beachfront town of Gulf Shores, Alabama, has long attracted vacationers for its sparkling white sands and laid-back charm. The Courtyard by Marriott Gulf Shores Craft Farms is just an eight-minute drive from a day of seaside fun.
If those in your brood aren’t content with just playing in the sand and surf, the hotel is right next door to a multiplex cinema and shopping and entertainment center. Spend the morning at the beach and the afternoon cooling off with a movie. Or, snack on some seafood nachos made with locally caught Gulf shrimp at “The Hangout,” and get messy at the hourly foam party.
Thrill-seekers can get their adrenaline pumping at the go-kart racing center, a two-minute drive from the hotel. Additional hair-raising activities here include zip-lines for the aerially inclined.
For calmer pursuits away from the shore, try the 36 holes of championship golfing on courses designed by Arnold Palmer at the adjacent Craft Farms community. Those too young to tee off can visit Pirates Island Adventure Golf, a few minutes south of the hotel.
The hotel itself is pretty much what you’d expect from a Courtyard Marriott -- contemporary corporate furnishings with coordinating wall art and textiles. There’s an American-style restaurant and a grab-and-go pantry for quick bites and sundries.
