The A38, the A50 and the M1 are all easily accessible from the hotel. East Midlands Airport takes 30 minutes by car via the A50, and the nearest railway station is Derby, which takes 15 minutes by car or taxi. Parking in the hotel's underground car park is free.
The 4-star Hallmark Hotel Derby Mickleover Court is 30 minutes' drive from the Peak District and the Lower Derwent Valley, and within 20 minutes' drive of Kedleston Hall, Sudbury Hall and the National Trust Museum of Childhood.

The hotel is also a 20-minute drive from the historic river port of Shardlow, where you can join the Derwent Valley Heritage Way -- a 55-mile walking route passing through Derby and Matlock. Make sure you see Derby's cathedral, founded in 943, where a "vaulted ceiling towers above a fine collection of medieval tombs" (Lonely Planet).
The hotel's health and leisure club is free to use, and has an indoor swimming pool, a sauna, a spa pool and a gym -- according to The AA, "the well-presented leisure facilities are amongst the best in the region". The Brasserie serves British and international cuisine, and the kitchen uses seasonal produce where possible. There is also a lounge serving Starbucks coffee.

HOTEL APPEARED TO BE A BIT VAGUE ON THE TRAVELZOO OFFER.Didnt have free wine in Room and appeared to cause much confusion when trying to sort out in the restaurant with evening meal. Was added for payment to our bill.Bar area was very dirty not comfortable to relax after evening meal, dirty sticky tables, food and rubbish on floors.Only another couple in the area so no excuse not to be clean.Didnt stay went to local village pub which was very good.

We decided to stay an extra night, on the third day (Sunday) we left the room at 8am arrived back at 16.20pm to find that the room had not been serviced. This meant that my wife & I had to wait in reception and where unable to freshen up for dinner this resulted in us having a bar meal, when we went back to the room we had to remake the bed as it had been so hurriedly made it was appalling. The bar service was slow to say the best. And the tea at breakfast was like dishwater so on the 4th morning I asked for hot water & a tea bag.

Food and waiting for it - 35 minutes for the starter. Prawn cocktail was inedible - slimy lettuce and prawns tasted off - sent back with no apology or replacement offered. Cheese board was a disgrace -again nothing said, no offers of anything made..There is no ambience or atmosphere in the restaurant or bar. The lighting is too dim.

There was no heating in our bedroom and when I complained I was told "the heating never works in that room!" It was a cold weekend and the bar, the restaurant and the bedroom were cold which spoiled the weekend. On the plus side the whole the staff were attentive and friendly. For such a big hotel I am surprised that the comfort of their residents isn't paramount!
