Turkey’s largest city is a sprawling metropolis, so if you’re staying at the 4-star Arden City Hotel, it’s good to know you’re right at Istanbul’s historic heart. The Ottoman-style hotel was refurbished in 2013 and has a rooftop restaurant that offers views of the city to the west and the Bosphorus strait, a body of water that links Europe with Asia, to the south.
The hotel sits in the Old Town, Sultanahmet, close to many of the city’s top attractions. The Hagia Sofia Museum, which you can see from the hotel’s rooftop restaurant, is about a 5-minute walk from the hotel, while The Blue Mosque and the Grand Bazaar are both a little over 10 minutes’ away. The Topkapi Palace, home of the Ottoman Sultans for almost 400 years and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is 600 metres from the property.
The rooftop bar and restaurant serves traditional Turkish food, as well as international cuisine, and is open for drinks too. The hotel also has a bar that is designed (for some reason) to look like a British pub -- it’s open for drinks and has sports TV channels. Breakfast is served in the hotel’s breakfast hall and serves fresh Turkish fare.
Rooms are luxuriously furnished and all have double beds, free WiFi, private bathrooms and air-conditioning. Executive Rooms have queen size beds and private balconies, while Junior Suites have king size beds.
