Overview

The Christopher Hotel Bar & Grill has an "ideal location" (The AA) a few minutes' walk from the River Thames, close to the "expensive boutiques, grand cafes and buzzing restaurants" (Lonely Planet) of Windsor and Eton's famed College. Dating from 1440, this boarding school has educated 19 prime ministers and is the birthplace of traditional English dessert the Eton mess.

Windsor Castle, the Queen's weekend residence, is less than 10 minutes' walk away. At the castle you can explore the grounds, and visit St George’s Chapel and the State Apartments. The Changing of the Guard is also not to be missed.

LEGOLAND Windsor Resort, a theme park boasting thrill rides and elaborate Lego statues, is 10 minutes' drive away.

Dorney Court, a 450-year-old manor house with a small farm, gardens and horticulture centre, and Dorney Lake, a purpose-built rowing lake, are a 10-minute drive away.

Windsor Great Park is 20 minutes' drive away. It features a lake, walking tracks, a bridleway, gardens, a deer park and a forest that is said to be haunted by Herne the Hunter, who rides a black stallion.

The informal bar and grill serves a mix of English and European dishes, including sea bass, grilled rib-eye steak and, of course, Eton mess for dessert.

The "stylish" (The AA) bedrooms include free Wi-Fi and are situated in either the main hotel building or in the courtyard.

The Christopher is also pet-friendly -- it's £10 per night, per dog. Parking is free.

Good location

Very comfortable and parking was good. Room windows could do with better sealing, some draught but only little.

Location for the castle is good, The room itself was nice with a cottage feeling, but the TV could have been bigger.
Other Comments
The hotel parking was very small and very tight to get in and out of. Indeed I damaged my car getting out. The room was very cold although the electric heater was left on all day and night. The WI Fi was very intermittent and frustrating. One of the reasons we took this break was to organise our upcoming month long trip to India. We were going to be in email and WhatsApp contact with our contact in India, but couldn't as the WI-Fi was so bad. We decided to have dinner in the hotel restaurant and were disappointed with the meals. Breakfast was OK, but the services was disappointing. We had to ask for milk and were not offered any sauces. Part of the deal was late check out at 12.30pm but upon checking in my wife was told it would be 11.00am. Again disappointing services, although they did let us check out later with a bit of a indifferent attitude.

The location was brilliant

Great spot, the staff were fine but it certainly had a lack of atmosphere. It was a very cold hotel especially in the dining room and the food was of a very low standard. The breakfast is advertised at £17.95, I wouldn’t have paid £7.95. Would I return, no there are far better choices around.

The location was excellent with free parking. Our room was upstairs and the stairs are quite steep. The chef was very creative and staff were very welcoming and polite - thank you!
