If Oakley Court Hotel looks familiar to you, there's a good chance you've seen it on celluloid -- this imposing Victorian Gothic building, dating from 1859, has been used for exterior shots in many of the movies filmed at the nearby Bray Studios, including Hammer films such as "The Brides of Dracula" and the cult musical comedy "The Rocky Horror Picture Show".
Oakley Court is around 12 minutes' drive from Windsor Castle (a Royal residence built in the 11th century), and five minutes from Bray, a village known for its gastronomy -- it's home to two of the four restaurants in the UK that hold three Michelin stars. Ascot Racecourse is 15 minutes away and The Savill Garden is 20 minutes away.
The hotel has lots of facilities for the sporty. There's a fitness centre, a sauna, a Jacuzzi, an indoor swimming pool, a 9-hole par-3 golf course and bike hire. During spring and summer you can hire a boat for river cruises on the Thames. Parking is free at the hotel.
Superior Double and Twin Rooms are spacious and come with free Wi-Fi, fluffy bathrobes, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Double Rooms have king-size beds. Riverview Deluxe Rooms are slightly larger and look on to the Thames. Executive Doubles come with extras like complimentary newspapers and a drinks voucher to use in the bar, while Junior Suites add flat-screen TVs and iPod docking stations.
