Overview

The Polurrian is set high on the Cornish cliffs, offering uninterrupted coastal views of Mount's Bay. This contemporary hotel is five minutes' walk from its own sandy beach at Polurrian Cove, less than 15 minutes' drive from Lizard Point (the most southerly point in the UK) and 40 minutes' drive from St Michael's Mount, which is number 39 on our list of 101 Things to do in Cornwall.

The hotel has panoramic sea views and 12 acres of mature landscaped gardens. There is a leisure club with a gym, a year-round indoor pool and a seasonal outdoor pool (open May-September), as well as spa treatment rooms (supplements apply).

Children can head to the outdoor climbing frame or hunker down to enjoy a film in the cinema room. The hotel also offers a free baby-listening service in the evenings so grown-ups can enjoy an evening meal in the hotel restaurant.

The stylish restaurant has a laid-back atmosphere, with dishes that showcase the best local and seasonal produce. The rustic Mediterranean menu features the best of Cornish produce, with many dishes cooked in a wood-fired oven. Child-friendly and vegan options are available.

The Vista Lounge provides a relaxing area to enjoy a tipple from the bar or a Cornish cream tea while soaking in the impressive coastal views.

Inland Facing Large Double Rooms can sleep up to two adults and two children under 12. Dogs can stay for an extra £15 each, per night (blankets and feeding bowls are provided). Wi-Fi is free.

We enjoyed the location most, it was very centrally situated for the places we had planned to visit.

We found the evening meal menu a little disappointing, firstly the two nights we were there the menu was the same, and secondly we found the choices a bit limited.

High quality bedding, room was spacious. Welcome pack for our dog was very thoughtful. Fantastic breakfast. The hotel setting & sea view is stunning
Other Comments
The dinner menu is quite restrictive if you do not like seafood.

The glorious views from the terrace, especially the sunsets.

All good. I recommend replacing the 1/2 pint straight glasses with a Belgian style of beer goblet, which[to me] makes the beer and stout more enjoyable.

Surely a fried egg is simple enough to fry at breakfast .... first eggs were served hard, so I asked for one I could dip toast in .... I was then then served eggs not cooked properly ... gooey top to the yolk ?????

We booked Dinner B & B but were disappointed by the choice available for the evening meal and food was expensively priced. If we stayed again we would do B & B only

Unfortunately a little disappointed that on having a mid morning coffee, cake not available until 12noon? In the evening my Caesar salad had damp croutons & tasteless dry chicken..food underwhelming A pity as it has the potential to be very good indeed..

- Whilst finding the change of style of menu challenging (see below) the quality of the food was superb. - beds large and wonderfully comfortable - well trained staff
Other Comments
We found the choice of main courses at dinner was a little limited for our taste - pizzas, burgers (excellent though they might have been) - is not what we are looking for in a hotel like this. We were struggling on the 2nd night (menu exactly the same) to find something that wasn't 'fast' food.

I didnoy know that it was no longer a Luxury group as was sold in 2019. Has not reached the same level with new owners.
