The eco-friendly Casa Luna Hotel is in a small town called Fortuna with amazing views of Arenal Volcano, one of the area’s youngest and most active volcanos, and Cerro Chato, an inactive volcano. The laidback resort is built in rustic-colonial style, constructed from reforested wood and recycled plastic roofs as well as adobe tile and terracotta.
All accommodations feature a private balcony or terrace with partial views of the volcano and offer two queen size beds, blackout curtains, air conditioning, a mini bar, Wi-Fi and can sleep up to four adults. Families can book large connecting rooms or upgrade to suites that include sofa beds and larger terraces with Jacuzzis and full volcano views.
Each morning, guests are treated to complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast at the hotel’s open-air restaurant. The property also features a bar, tropical garden, outdoor pool and kids’ pool. Visitors can book excursions via the concierge to swim beneath the La Fortuna waterfall, zip-line through the jungle’s canopy and visit a wildlife refuge.
