Voted one of the top 10 Pacific Northwest resorts by Conde Nast Traveller, the Woodmark is the lone hotel on Lake Washington's scenic shores. A room key here provides access to sweeping views of the Seattle skyline, Olympic Mountains and lakeshore, yet it’s just 20 minutes by car from Seattle's city centre.

More like a swanky home-away-from-home than a hotel, the property has a cozy living room in place of a lobby, and guests are offered a glass of Champagne at check-in. Complimentary “raid-the-pantry” privileges from 10 p.m. - 1 a.m. mean late-night snacks are always available, including sandwiches, soups and desserts. Guests can also unwind with a traditional massage or an organic body wrap at the in-house spa. For fitness aficionados, there is free access to the gym at Fly Fitness across the road and at nearby Carillon Point Health Club.

Come evening, choose between upscale dining at bin on the lake, where the food is Mediterranean and there is an impressive wine list with over 40 wines available, or relaxed dining at the reasonably priced Beach Café. Both are found right on the lakefront and are highly rated by Zagat.

A US$18 daily amenity fee covers high-speed internet access, courtesy SUV transportation within a 5-mile radius, fitness centre access, kayak rentals and more.

From the press:
  • "You'll pay more for the better views and rooms with balconies, but it's probably worth it" -- Fodor’s
  • "Beautiful surroundings, luxurious rooms, and boat tours all add up to one of Seattle's best hotel values" -- Frommer’s

The resort fee seems a bit steep given most hotels provide free wifi. But otherwise, we love this hotel & will most certainly return!

I booked through travelzoo for $420 and some change, however, everyday the hotel is charging me a new rate. I have talked to them both in person and on the phone 4 separate times. Each time, we get it fixed and on the proper price and later I get another charge to my card from this hotel. They have actually charged my card $660, $250, $172. They have also given me receipts for $950 and $572. And of course nobody knows how to fix it when I call. I also upgraded my room to a suite and nobody mentioned we would be sleeping next to a laundry room where the constant spin cycle of the wash machine kept me awake both nights.
