Capitalizing on the year-round influx of visitors to the alpine area of Lake Tahoe, the Tahoe Beach and Ski Club is well equipped for fun in the sun, on the slopes and everything in between. The property has that cozy ski lodge charm of fieldstone pillars and fireplaces and knotty pine ceilings and furnishings. Sometimes rustic can be a code word for out-of-date, but here it means charming details like fir tree silhouettes carved into chairs and a bookshelf made from an upright canoe.
In the warmer months, there’s room to splash and play on the 400-foot private beach. A marina next door gives easy access to rent speedboats, Jet Skis and the like. For recreation on dry land, there’s a playground, year-round heated pool, tennis courts, volleyball and free Wi-Fi.
In wintertime, it’s a 10-minute drive up the road to the Heavenly ski resort, where skiers and snowboarders can ride the slopes all day. If you’re the type that has two left feet on the hills, the flashy casinos of Stateline, Nevada, are just a two-minute drive past Heavenly.
After a long day of adrenaline-filled fun, you can unwind in the outdoor pool or either of the two hot tubs, both heated all year so you can turn up the relaxation with a dip. All rooms have kitchens, and there are outdoor barbecues to make meals anyway you want anytime. There’s also a number of eateries within a few minutes' walk along the main road, ranging from fast food to the upscale Riva Grill at the marina next door.
