"This hotel was A-1 from beginning to end. The staff were courteous and friendly and the room was beautiful -- had everything I could have wanted. Only thing missing was an in-room coffee maker. The location is perfect -- within walking distance of the French Quarter. Loved it and it will definitely be my hotel in NOLA from now on."

Rooms feature rustic touches, like pinewood floors and exposed brick walls, alongside indulgent amenities — pillow menu, anyone?
Home to Compère Lapin, the first restaurant from James Beard award-winning chef (and "Top Chef" fan favorite) Nina Compton

Overview
The Old No. 77 sits in the heart of downtown New Orleans' Warehouse District — a former industrial center that's now home to a thriving arts scene (it's only a 10-minute walk to the French Quarter, too). In keeping with its surroundings, the hotel still retains many rustic touches from its long history, dating back to the 1800s; it also boasts top spots on Conde Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards for 2018 and 2019.
Brick walls, high ceilings and exposed pipes give much of the hotel a loft-like aesthetic, and help rooms to feel "contemporary and fresh" (Oyster.com). Pillowtop mattresses — complete with pillow menus — large flat-screen TVs and honor bars stocked with local goodies come standard as well. Amenities for four-legged family members include pet room service and even pet psychics (it is New Orleans, after all).
"Top Chef" fan favorite Nina Compton's first restaurant, Compère Lapin, is located on site and has already been named one of the "40 Most Important Restaurants of the Past 40 Years" by Food & Wine Magazine. The menu features cuisine that combines Compton’s Caribbean roots with French and Italian elements.
Outside the hotel, you're close to pretty much everything — guests can stroll through dozens of art galleries and museums on nearby Julia Street, including the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. Lafayette Square and the city's conference center are a couple blocks away from the hotel; the Garden District is a short streetcar ride west and guests can join the revelry on Bourbon Street, less than a 15-minute walk away.

I asked ahead of time for a room on the top floor, didn’t get it. No window in the room. Refrigerator didn’t work. Screaming baby nearby. Expensive parking ($30 per Night). Extremely expensive restaurant.

Good location. Easy walk to the streetcar, WWII museum, & French quarter. I loved the exposed brick, hardwood floors, huge windows, and retro/industrial style.

We were told at check in that the room would be cleaned after our 3rd night there. It wasn't. We had only been provided with 2 towels and had been showering 2x/day because of the heat so really needed new towels. My husband spoke with the person at the front desk and was met with indifference. He was told that someone would bring towels and sheets so that we could make our own bed. No one ever showed up. My husband finally went back to the front desk and came back with towels, one of which was stained. The room was obviously in need of a thorough cleaning & maintenance. There was visible dust on the bathroom vanity & towel cart. There was water damage around the shower and the windows were dirty and in desperate need of repair. That combined with the fact that the headboard had leather straps and there was lubricant for sale in the room made me very reluctant to touch anything in the room. Not a place to which I looked forward to returning at the end of the day. The single-bulb fixture over the bathroom vanity gave off almost no light. I ended up using the flashlight on my phone to see what I was doing. There was also only one drawer in the room so one of us had to live out of a suitcase for 5 days.

This was an amazing experience. The rooms were gigantic, the location was perfect, the parking was easy to access and well patrolled. The restaurant was delicous. The staff was exceptional. For a $25 fee our doxiedoodle was able to enjoy the stay as well (and that was for the stay, not per night)

Great location! We walked to the French Quarter and to Harrahs casino easily and felt safe. The rooms were huge and well decorated. The only negative I would say is the front desk staff wasn't very welcoming at check-in and the attached bar's cocktails were $$$.

We got in at 3:00 am from the train Needles to say the train was late. No problem checking in. The room was very close to to the desk. Made us happy to get in. Nice amenities, such as the glasses, were observed. I realize they have better rooms. The value for the location was well worth it.

We liked having a ceiling fan, enjoyed the restaurant and thought the local art throughout the hotel was great. The staff was helpful with parking options and coffee shop recommendations.

The room's one window faced a brick wall so it was dark all the time. The room was damp: clothes were damp in the morning, the towels wouldn't dry and there was mold on the leather furnishings. There aren't coffee makers in the room which we knew, but the hotel coffee shop was closed. The hotel had only one espresso machine and it was broken all three days (therefore we were unable to use our $10/day credit). There was a roach one night. Just a note that the bath towels were very different sizes and hand and washcloths mismatched patterns.

The hotel is in a good location, decor is interesting and it could be so much better with a better staffing and better cleaning.
Loved Compere Lapin, the restaurant! Definitely make a reservation to eat here even if you stay at another hotel.

Outside: disruptive construction going on right next door.
Entry and greeting: well done.
Room: looked as though no one had come to clean at all. Hard wood floors were very noisy, white paint drops all over the wood floor along with dust and dirt.
Bathroom: shower tiles are dirty looking and old. Dusty in every corner. The mirror had some large glop of something on it, so obviously was not even cleaned.
Second day we were there, we saw two housekeeping staff in the room directly across from our room with the door wide open. The woman was sitting in a chair watching TV and talking very loudly about what she was seeing on TV. The man looked like he was trying to clean up around her. It sounded like a party going on over there.
Very bad management here.
We actually checked out Saturday night because we didn't want to stay both nights that we reserved. Did not ask for a refund, just had to get out.

Its hard to say how much of our experience was caused by the Covid precautions. For instance, there was no maid service for the six days we were there. Not a huge problem, but a little unusual. We were able to get fresh towels from the front desk. Also strange that there was no ice machine. Once again we were told we could call the front desk and they would get ice for us. The coffee bar, Tout La Cafe was only open for three of our six days. The only reason this mattered was because there was no coffee machine in the room and as a part of the Travelzoo perk we were supposed to be a $10 daily credit redeemable at Tout La Cafe. Upon reviewing our final bill I noticed that we were not given credit for this perk. Not a huge amount of money, but still a bit irritating.
The front desk personnel were delightful and very welcoming as was the hotel maid who inadvertently came into our room. She apparently thought we were leaving on Thursday instead of Friday. She was very apologetic and entirely appropriate. The two baristas who were there were much less so.
The gym consisted of two treadmills, one elliptical trainer, and eight hand weights. The Mirror training equipment was out of order and the Peleton was unusable due to the seat not being adjustable without the missing tool used to adjust the seat.
The location was smashing. I am a fast walker, but had no problem walking to the Jackson Distillery in ten minutes. There were also two or three trolley stations within a short walk.
The Travelzoo rates were a bit misleading. Our advertised rate was $75.00 per night, but with all of the other fees and taxes it ended up being closer to $140.00 per night. Those fees included a $30.00 per night parking fee (the parking was very convenient, just right across the street) and a Guest Amenities Fee which covered the use of the gym and the internet (even if you did not use either one.)
The room itself was tiny and the air conditioner was very loud, although it did a good job of cooling the room. The window provided no light and looked out at a brick wall three feet away. For my purposes the room was serviceable, but for some people it would have been not as charming as the pictures on the website and therefore maybe a little disappointing.

Travelzoo "good deal" price was $20 higher than other sites. There was no breakfast included. Parking was valet only and it cost $42 per night per car (my daughter came from another location so we had two cars. Plus they charged $5.00 and change for a parking tax. So it cost me nearly $200 to PARK and we did not use our cars.

IF YOU WANT THE FULL NOLA EXPERIENCE WITH PARANORMAL ACTIVITY.....then this is your place. The hotel, rooms, restaurant and staff were all wonderful. However, I hadn't read the reviews on-line until my last day & was completely unaware that the hotel is haunted. For a full 3 days we told ourselves that the foot steps, opening & closing of doors, whispered & distorted conversations, and weird loud bumps were just the people around us. Until we found out NO ONE was staying around us. It wasn't scary - just a bit unsettling on our last night after we had realized that the noises we were hearing all around us all night long were all coming from something other than living guests.
I definitely would recommend the hotel but would make sure that the anyone planning to stay at the hotel knows that the Lafayette wing - and especially room 385 - comes with some additional amenities.
Other Comments
Everything written above in my "experience" can be shared. I just wish I would've known about the noises instead of the front desk employees playing coy with me when I got up in the middle of my second night to complain about all the noise. It wasn't until I checked out that they admitted that there had been a number of complaints about "disturbances" in the Lafayette wing. The service we received while in the hotel was worth staying for - I just wish they would've been more upfront about the extra activity.

We really enjoyed this hotel! Great atmosphere. Nice to come back after a day in the French Quarter (A/C and the lobby smells amazing). Our room was dark and quiet, very cozy. We loved the art. Wondering if it’s haunted though - we both woke to the light turning on by itself and it sounded like someone was in our bathroom. Also, on our last night someone checked in next to us and we could hear all their conversations. Otherwise it was a really great stay.

Very nice ambience, loved the artistic spin of the hotel. Old historic feel with mixed with contemporary pieces. Did not get a chance to eat at the restaurant but it and its chef has received multiple awards from what I understood. The location is great, close enough to everything but far enough from the craziness that the NOLA nights will bring you. Rooms are upgraded but still a bit worn which is understood with the age of the building. All in all, great staff, great location, BEAUTIFUL hotel.
