Why We Love This Hotel

  • There's a heated indoor pool and hot tub
  • Steps from scenic Point State Park -- the mouth of the Ohio River
  • It's only 10 minutes via light-rail to PNC Park, Heinz Field and the Andy Warhol Museum

Overview

Overlooking Point State Park -- where the Allegheny and Monongahela merge to form the Ohio River -- the Wyndham Grand puts guests in the heart of the Golden Triangle neighborhood (that's downtown for non-'Burghers): Fort Duquesne, Gateway Center Park and the theaters along Liberty and Penn Avenue are all walkable. There's also a complimentary shuttle that takes guests to destinations within 3 miles of the hotel (call ahead to check the schedule).

Even the base level guest rooms feel bright and airy thanks to large picture windows with views of either the river or downtown. They also come with posh wood-and-leather furnishings, as well as modern necessities like flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi and in-room Wolfgang Puck coffee.

The on-site 3 Rivers Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and specializes in local favorites like pierogies and kielbasa -- for a truly Steel City Start to the day, we recommend the Pittsburgh Benedict. You can also find loads of dining options around nearby Market Square (five minutes walking).

Prime location right where all three rivers converge and close to Heinz Field and PNC Stadium. Easy to walk across to Mt. Washington. Easy check-in but no concierge as in description. The room had a great view of the rivers and Heinz Field. It was nice but could use updating. Cracked sink, pealing wallpaper, dirty grout. But still clean. They did comp us a night because the sheets on one bed were either very dirty or very stained and disturbing. We were also disappointed to be treated like questionable people instead of valued guests. They must be used to a rowdy crowd with the stadiums nearby? We watched college football in our room Sat evening and may have cheered a few times. Instead of giving us a courtesy call to ask us to be quieter, there was rapping on the door and shouts of "Hotel Security!" We were flabbergasted when they announced that this was "our first warning and a second one would get us booted from the hotel." Really? We are pretty darn considerate adults. A phone call would have sufficed. Then the next day at checkout, the bellman said the my husband needed to leave his ID with her in order to use the luggage cart, because they have trouble with them going missing. Again, really? So, if you can put up with less than respectful service, I still recommend this hotel for the location.

This was a good deal thru TravelZoo. We came to Pittsburgh to celebrate my wifes birthday , go to a Pirates Steve Blass bobble head give away. I reguested a upper floor room with a river view, and alerted the Wyndham in advance that we wanted to go to the game early. All my requests were thankfully met. Special thanks to Luke at the check in for all the help ! I would recommend this hotel but I'm a car guy & never use valet parking. I used the Duquene Bvd. & 6 St parking garage around the block ,week end rate $8.00 day and they charged me for 1 day

While the lobby has seen upgrades, the increase in staff may be essential. There were beer bottles left in the hallway leading to our room from the time we arrived, and still there upon the next day departure. Our thermostat did not work and the room was stuffy. We requested maintenance. When we returned, it was improved. We were given their least desirable room (no view).

It is a great location. It is within walking distance of the theater district, PNC Park and Heinz stadium. Breakfast was delicious and the wait staff delightful.

We stayed at the Wyndham while attending a wedding in the Pittsburgh area. We wanted to experience downtown Pittsburgh during our stay and the location was perfect. The hotel was updated, the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating and the breakfast buffet that was included exceeded our expectations. So delicious! We were a little surprised at the cost to park ($35/Day for valet parking) but in the end, found it to be worthwhile. The valets were prompt and accommodating. Our room was a little small and the bed a little too soft for our comfort, but overall, we had a wonderful experience!

The location was great. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the waitress at breakfast was wonderful. Her name was Lara or Lana, something like that.

The front desk staff when we checked in was not friendly or accommodating. Our breakfast and casino vouchers were not ready and then they were not sent up to the room like we were told they'd be. Our room had no bars of soap and when I called and asked for some they were not sent up. There was a coating of dust on the lamp, night table and bottoms of glasses. There was a chopped fingernail on the night table during our entire stay.
