Located on Banff Avenue, the main street in town, Banff Caribou Lodge & Spa is a mountain lodge hotel with log-and-stone architecture and a cozy feel. Inside, the rustic look continues with a tall stone fireplace, chunky wood coffee tables and timber-beamed ceilings in the lobby. The resort has one of the largest spas in the area (complete with six treatment rooms, a hot tub and a steam room), a compact fitness room and the well-respected Keg Steakhouse & Bar.
The big plus here are the free facilities, which include heated indoor car parking, Wi-Fi access and morning tea and coffee in the lobby. Guests can also request free passes for the local Roam buses, which are particularly handy as the resort is a 10-minute walk from the center of Banff.
Guestrooms are simple mountain retreats that overlook either the hotel courtyard or the surrounding landscape. The furniture is rustic wood, and beds are made up with fluffy duvets and colorful cushions. Most rooms aren’t huge, but some have balconies. Upgrade to a suite for more space, a Jacuzzi bath and a gas fireplace.
