Overview

Hogarths Stone Manor, a Tudor-style property that had a £2 million refurbishment in 2016, is surrounded by 25 acres of gardens in the Worcestershire countryside. The current building dates from the 1920s, but was built using century-old timbers from the HMS Arethusa, one of the last sailing ships in the Royal Navy. All rooms, the lounge, and bar and restaurant have had a facelift.

The hotel is 40 minutes' drive from the Malvern Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and 30 minutes from Worcester Cathedral and the "fascinating" porcelain works (The Daily Telegraph) at the Museum of Royal Worcester. West Midland Safari Park is a 15-minute drive away, and the Severn Valley Railway, which offers heritage steam-train trips between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth, is five minutes' drive away.

The hotel's AA-Rosette restaurant serves locally sourced seasonal food. Afternoon tea is available every day from 2-6pm. There's a croquet lawn and a tennis court on site.

The elegant rooms have plump pillows, traditional furniture and free Wi-Fi. Many overlook the mature gardens.

The atmosphere, the location and the room ( this was slightly marred by the noise from the neighbouring room due to an inrerconnecting door).

Food was excellent, especially the 3 course inclusive evening meal. The restaurant seemed to be short staffed both for the evening meal and breakfast so the service was a little slow.
