Why We Love It

  • Just around the corner from Times Square and on a quieter side street, allowing for a restful night's sleep
  • Rooms are tight, but guests are mainly out sightseeing -- Rockefeller Center is a 10-minute walk away
  • The hotel is less than a five-minute walk to Restaurant Row lined with USA Today favourites like Joe Allen, Orso and Becco

"The place and the service were excellent. Great location, just 2 blocks from Times Square, in the middle of Midtown. The room noise isolation was perfect, you can´t hear a thing. Recommended!"

Map & Directions

Typically 40 minutes by taxi from John F. Kennedy (JFK) Airport, the fare is approximately $50, not including tip and tolls. Alternatively, take the AirTrain to Jamaica Station and change for the Long Island Rail Road to Penn Station, which is 15-20 minutes on foot from the hotel. The journey should take over an hour but will be much cheaper.

Rooms & Rates

Check Rates

The Gallivant Times Square offers small but stylish rooms in a tourist's most-wanted location. It is right around the corner from Times Square's main intersection, but hidden on a side street so that the immediate area is quiet and restful compared to hotels directly in Times Square.

Rooms have modern furnishings, but are a bit tight for travellers looking to spend more time inside the room. Showers in the rooms are doorless and can wet the floors, but the dozens of Broadway theatres within five blocks will keep guests out into the evening. Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall are three blocks away, the Museum of Modern Art and the high-end shops on Fifth Avenue are another 10 blocks from the hotel.

An'nam offers Vietnamese and Japanese fusion-inspired cuisine on-site, but also serves up a traditional American buffet breakfast each morning (surcharge). DING offers freestyling barbecue that you can prepare yourself, shabu-shabu stews and tapas. For further exploring, Restaurant Row -- which is packed with ethnic eateries and bars -- is just a block or two west along Eighth and Ninth avenues.

the room was nice except for that is was freezing.

The Thermostat did not work and the room was freezing. The Engineer couldn't fix it and they said they would do it the next day. The next day, I returned to an even colder room. I was denied another room or a refund. I was told an engineer would come right away. I froze waiting for an engineer that never arrived. After two hours I called to check and was told they had left for the night. I was offered an extra blanket. That was unacceptable. Bad experience.

The location was ideal. The hotel is located a block from Times Square in the heart of the theater district. After attending an evening show it was a short walk back to the room. The rooms were well appointed and clean. The furnishings were modern and stylish.

Yes. It was in close proximity to the main locations. It was clean
Other Comments
1. The quality of the towels 2. There was no water provided in the rooms for drinking. The provision of this would, in my opinion, go along way in achieving guest satisfaction.

Location was superior; beds very comfortable and rooms clean. Staff was top notch, especially the front end Manager Robert Napolitano. Had one small issue while I was there; and he was on it faster then the words came out of my mouth. Clearly a place with serious people who want to do serious business; I hope that the Gallivant does well with this promotion.

The hotel rooms have faux wood floors and not carpet. Somewhat quiet for being in the middle of Times Square.
Other Comments
The hotel seemed dirty. In my room, which was small (even though that doesn't bother me, I am just using it to sleep) the air filters in their a/c units need to be cleaned. The room was so cold and damp and the a/c had so much condensation that it was pooling on the floor. The coffee maker in my room was cracked and appeared to have not been cleaned in a very long time. They tried to tell me that the coffee maker in my room was not what they other rooms have and they didn't know what I was talking about. While I was staying there, I placed my "do not disturb" sign on my door for the day. When I returned to my room later that evening, the sign was missing and my room had been serviced. I brought this to the manager's attention and they didn't want to point the blame on their staff as they were quick to say, maybe someone took the sign, that is why housekeeping went in the room. The front desk staff were rude and unwilling to help.

Location and the concierge was great!

The only problem was the doors were so heavy when they closed they slammed so all night you heard people's doors.
