The grand Hydro Hotel, which opened in 1895, is set on one of Eastbourne's cliffs within the Meads area, just over a mile from the town centre and its Grade II-listed pier.

Local attractions include Beachy Head, which Lonely Planet describes as "a spot of thrilling beauty", and the Sussex Heritage Coast, which are both a 5-minute drive. Visit Redoubt Fortress and Military Museum, a 5-minute drive away, to discover over 200 years of military history.

The hotel has sweeping sea views from its landscaped gardens, which include a croquet lawn and a putting green. There are two restaurants on site, which serve English and French cuisine. Afternoon tea can be taken in the conservatory, and there is a lounge and a cocktail bar.

The AA describes the hotel's bedrooms as "attractive and well equipped", and all are individually decorated.
