Dating from the 16th century, Hotel Château de Chailly has a fascinating history. Notably surviving the French Revolution, the château was first transformed into a medieval fortress by Jean de Loges, and is now classified as one of Burgundy's “Historical Monuments”.
Surrounding the château, and crossed by a brook, the Château de Chailly golf course offers guests a picturesque, yet competitive 18-hole golfing experience. Not into golf, or prefer a more relaxing experience? There's a Jacuzzi, and hammam treatments -- plus an outdoor swimming pool, open from June to September. Hire a mountain bike and explore the beautiful grounds -- or visit the Morvan Regional Natural Park for hiking, rafting or sailing.
After working up an appetite, guests can relax and dine in the hotel's restaurants. L'Armancon features classic French mains and a choice of fine wines -- and Le Rubillon, boasts a sunlit terrace that overlooks the swimming pool and golf course, and serves lighter dishes. Wine-tasting can be arranged by the hotel in The Caveau, the château's unique on-site cave (a fee applies).
Rooms are elegant and charming, and combine modern facilities without forgetting the traditional features of an authentic château experience. Upgrade to the Suite Prestige for a stay in the main château building: some with beamed rooms and a view of the golf course. There's free Wi-Fi, and the spa is free for guests.
