Overview

The Vendue is not just a hotel; it's a culturally enriching experience. Originally warehouses for storage, trade and auctions, the hotel has come a long way since its humble beginnings, reinventing itself with a $5.5 million renovation in 2014 to become a sanctuary for art lovers. It now comprises two lavish buildings across the street from one another, coming together as one high-end boutique hotel.

No two rooms are the same: Traditional guest rooms feature Egyptian cotton sheets and neutral beige tones, while some rooms are classically designed with four-poster beds, rustic hardwood floors and the original exposed brick walls. Signature rooms are decorated with reproduced antique furniture for a vintage feel, while the Premiere rooms offer more space and many have great views of the city.

Over 300 sculptures and paintings line the walls of the lobby, eating areas and guest rooms. Pristine white-marble and dark hardwood floors flow into the Drawing Room restaurant, where the marble floors and the chocolate-colored wood bar are prominently featured against charcoal walls. The rooftop bar "attracts visitors and locals alike for its open-air patios and multi-tiered vistas" and was named one of the 10 best Rooftop Bars in Charleston by Conde Nast Traveler).

Each morning, a free continental breakfast is served in the lobby lounge. All guests receive a complimentary daily reception with wine, and even milk and cookies in the evening. Guests also enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi and use of the hotel's bicycles to explore the city.

Everything about the Vendue was first class. The staff, the service, the location and the room were exceptional. It may be one of our favorite hotels ever, and we have had the good fortune to stay in some lovely places.
Other Comments
Vendue is an art hotel, so we also enjoyed touring the buildings and checking out the various works displayed.

Friends from NC asked us to join them in Charleston SC, had been there many times before, but had never stayed at the Vendue. Location is perfect, the hotel itself is truly stunning. Two separate hotels, across the street from each other. Both are artist paradise with gorgeous artwork everywhere, chandeliers sparkling above, rich warm woodwork, comfortable and gorgeous furniture. Rooms are equally stunning, clean, furnished with great taste, comfortable beds. Staff equally friendly and so helpful. The lobby bar is also where you can enjoy your free breakfast, have Happy Hour free wines and appetizer, quiet and beautiful. Plus they have a fun, roof top bar that overlooks the quaint town and water of Charleston. Can't review the restaurant food. We ate breakfast and bolted out the door every morning early to enjoy every minute of the Charleston charm and fabulous food. Yes, I would certainly book The Vendue on our next visit.

The staff was charming and inviting and made us feel welcome. Our original booked room had some issues and they graciously and easily solved the problem. The rooms are older and the hallways aren’t designed for agile mobility, but the artwork is a feast for the eyes.

We were greeted with a glass of champagne and a warm welcome from Charlotte! When we asked for a room with a bath tube they were very accommodating. The attention to detail in the room was amazing. Robes, bedding, accessories all were first class and the room was clean and tidy. We took advantage of our $25.00 credit and had a delicious lunch at the roof top bar. The wine and snacks were wonderful. Barbara provided an excellent tour of the art work throughout the first floor. When we returned from my wife's birthday dinner, we found chocolates with a bottle of ice cold champagne with a beautiful birthday note from the manager. Check out was a breeze. Zach provided bottled water for the trip home. All in all a truly first class experience far beyond expectations. Thank you for a delightful stay.

A quick getaway to this wonderful hotel just lifts my spirits. The moment you pull up in your car till the time you get back in your car to go home is perfect in every way. I have been enough times that they always state"you have been here before?" It is the best location for exploration of Charleston, close to wonderful food and shopping or just taking coffee out to the water to enjoy the view. I could easily move in for my lifetime if I could only bring my dog. Thank you as always for a great time at this special place.
