"From the initial purchase of my 3 night stay, all the way through checkout, my experience was fantastic. Hotel check-in was super easy, with helpful recommendations of local restaurants, and paid parking options. We were allowed to stretch our "loading zone only" parking in front of the hotel for several hours, since the hotel was at low occupancy during our stay. We enjoyed the complimentary "Wine Hour" on all three nights of our stay, along with the daily $10 food/beverage credit. The room was simple, but adequate, and we were upgraded to the floor just below the penthouse. When we needed a microwave or refrigerator, one was quickly brought to our room. When we needed ice in the room, a filled bucket was promptly brought to us. We were also allowed to check out 1 1/2 hours late, for no additional charge. The location is well situated between Little Italy, the waterfront, and the Gaslamp District. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Palomar."
Hotel Palomar San Diego combines the best of two worlds: It’s within walking distance to everything the cultural center of Gaslamp Quarter has to offer. A stay here means you are steps from some of San Diego’s most sought-after restaurants, from steakhouses to sushi, are all within a short stroll.
Rooms are contemporary and modern with standout touches, including Jerusalem limestone bathrooms with rain showers and Italian Frette linens on the beds. Libations and light fare are available at the hotel’s rooftop pool deck on weekends.

Upon check in an altercation took place right behind my car and I had to drive around the block until things died down. Then when my family and I walked into the hotel another altercation took place with 2 totally different people as we were walking in. The hotel staff was extremely professional and friendly and I would say that this would’ve the highlight of the situation. However, the rooms were outdated and looked more like a military barracks. The hotel was very dark, signage was chipped and the room wasn’t clean. We left after 10 minutes and did not stay. I would not return to this specific location again but I would stay in another kimpton property as they are usually top notch.

Proximity to trolley stop mean horns blaring at all hours of the day and night. I was unable to fall asleep the entire night.

Due to the COVID pandemic everything was closed except dinning. Location was dull.
Parking was astronomical $50 per night. It would be nice to alert us before booking or selling this Hotel

The location. There was lots of homeless people wandering around. The room looked and felt grimy. We had to check in at 4pm only to find out the pool closed at 6pm. I checked out the same day. I think we only spent maybe 40 minutes there and decided to leave for home.

Had a nice stay at Hotel Palomar. The room was nice and spacious and had a nice, big balcony. Hotel is dog friendly so it was nice that we could have our dog with us at no extra charge. Staff was friendly and accommodating. They recommended Lola 55 restaurant to us and we enjoyed it very much! Thank you.

Hotel was centrally located in the heart of downtown off 5th Ave. Lots of shops, restaurants and bars close by within walking distance. Take 5th all the way down to the Convention Center or Broadway all the way down to USS Midway both have ferries to take you across to Coronado Island.
Hotel was clean and staff was very helpful and nice. We stayed in a king suite with an amazing view of the city and water. Beds were firm, sheets were soft. Our only complaint were the pillows. They were a little to stiff and flat for our liking. Other than that it was a great stay for 3 nights and would diffidently stay again.

Lovely hotel, nice staff, comfortable room (1209). The bed was a bit soft for my taste, but others might enjoy that. The first night was better than second; for some reason, the heat was just not coming up no matter how high I pushed it, so I slept in my sweater. The next morning when I asked about the heat, they apologized and took off the resort/facility fee from our bill.

Yes, the hotel is downtown, but $49 for parking? Too much!

I picked this trip primarily because of the Kimpton Hotel. My daughter and I stayed at a Kimpton Hotel in New York City and we were hoping the Hotel Palomar was as nice as the Muse in New York - it certainly was! The location was excellent and we were able to walk all over, even down to the bay to visit the USS Midway. (We took an Uber back to the hotel since it was up the hill!)

The location is within walking distance to everything in downtown San Diego including Seaport Village, Gaslamp, Embarcadero and we even walked to Balboa Park! The evening wine reception was outstanding and we had great conversation with other travellers.
