No frig or coffee maker or microwave or complimentary breakfast included... rather austere

Bellman and front desk staff were very helpful. Subway entrance literally steps away from front entrance. Great little coffee/breakfast spot right next door. There was a safe in the room which I always appreciate.
Other Comments
No coffee pot in the room which seemed quite odd.

Location is great and right in midtown.

Rooms old and falling apart. I moved from a room with wallpaper peeling off the wall to a room with a barely working shower and no vanity.

The room was fine...except for the previous occupants hairs in and around the toilet. I was actually surprised because my initial impression of the hotel was that the room would be a further extension of the lobby...not that clean, damp and smelly. The room was damp, but it was 105 degrees outside. But I guess you get what you pay for.

Our greeter, Reggie was very upbeat and easy to talk to...front desk, eeh, not so much, baggage, eeh, not so much. The hotel didn't have that inviting smell that hotels have - it smelled like NY outside. nothing grabbed my attention as we walked in the door except for the overcrowded lobby waiting area. Our room was fine I guess, but it was located on the opposite side of the elevator...and guess what we listened to all night...the elevators.

We were on a Hilton Honors floor. The room was large, updated, and clean.

Price for the size of the room in NYC is very good.
Other Comments
Front desk staff were incompetent. Major problems with check in. Once we got in to a room all was good but it was a nightmare on the front end. We were never given the deluxe king we booked and we were almost charged for two rooms instead of one. Had to argue this one for over a half hour on the phone when I confirmed. I got the clear feeling that the reduced rate from Travel Zoo for a King room was resented which was very evident in the way we were treated by the front desk staff.
