OverviewFavored by movie stars like Anne Hathaway and Judy Garland, The Lenox Hotel is a historic property in Boston’s upscale Back Bay area. The property is family owned, having been in the Saunders family for three generations, and is known for its excellent service and eco-friendly initiatives. Condé Nast Traveler describes it as one of the greenest hotels in America and their efforts include a hybrid car service run on recycled cooking oil bio fuel.
A huge breakfast spread -- featuring everything from steak and eggs to oatmeal and wild honey -- is served from Monday to Saturday and on Sundays a varied brunch menu is available until 2pm. There’s also a sleek bar for evening cocktails and light meals and an authentic Boston Irish pub called Sólás for cosy evenings in and comfort food (try the Irish Shepherd’s pie). In-room spa treatments can also be arranged and there’s a small 24-hour fitness room.
The comfortable rooms are traditionally furnished -- many with chandeliers -- and the best views are undoubtedly from the Junior Suites on the higher floors. Spacious corner rooms have wood-burning fireplaces, while the Back Bay Suite comes complete with a TV in the bathroom mirror. Hypo-allergenic rooms with purified air for allergy sufferers are also available. The turn-down service is especially noteworthy, providing thoughtful touches such as cookies and bottled water, and there’s no charge for overnight shoe shining.
