Why We Love This Hotel

  • The hotel is one block from Broadway and four minutes from Central Park
  • The art deco exterior dates from the 1920s, while the interiors are finished with modern touches
  • A star-studded former guest list includes celebrities and dignitaries like Mae West and Eleanor Roosevelt

Overview

A huge art deco presence in Midtown Manhattan, the Park Central hotel is just three blocks south of Central Park and its 50+ blocks of meadows, ponds, fields and ice-skating rinks. The hotel is central to other top sights, too. Times Square and Rockefeller Center are both less than 10 blocks away.

While the hotel's exterior dates from the '20s, the insides are all shiny and new.  Rooms are coated in cool, vaguely metallic gray tones that bespeak sophistication, not flash. Silvery leather headboards, walnut-and-chrome furnishings and handsome plaid carpets feel almost gentlemanly. In the lobby, fresh flowers frame the reception desk, and a wall of louvered blinds in a herringbone pattern veils a capacious lounge and cafe.

Location was good.

The wait for the two elevators what does extremely long at all times. There were no glasses in the bedroom. There was no paper pad and pen. There was no refrigerator and no coffee maker. Quite honestly I was surprised. We had towels in the bathroom.

Love the location
Other Comments
room and carpet in room needs updating, only one elevator operating to our floor, erroneously charged for smoking violation

Proximity to Broadway area and Central park; spaciousness of ADA-compliant room; service provided by the baggage storage worker and the friendly, helpful overnight manager (I forgot his name, but he was a Black male)
Other Comments
At least two of the front desk staff were not hospitable and left me feeling like I was being a burden to them in asking simple questions. Bellhop also never came to transfer bags from room initially provided, which was too small to fit a wheelchair, to the ADA-compliant room that we were eventually given.

Location.
Other Comments
Room was dingy-furniture looked beat up, hardware fittings were loose (door handle and toilet roll dispenser). It was dusty and there were lots of short hairs in the bathroom. Bathtub did not drain well. Wi-Fi did not work. Had to wait in very long lines for the elevator.

Great stay. Centrally located. Clean. Safe. Rooms large than typical NYC hotel. Only challenge sometimes was waiting for an elevator as one is out and it is my understanding that a total elevator rehab of all the elevators is planned in the immediate future.

very comfortable accomodations, bed felt like sleeping on a cloud
Other Comments
would add that additional lighting would be helpful in bed/ Also, they gave us an extra hour late checkout, but after we went 15 floors up had to go all the way back down to get a key b/c they checked us out

overall a pleasant, comfortable stay; the location near the theatre district was most attractive. The rooms were in good condition, and the beds were comfortable.
Other Comments
The only issue we had was with waiting for the elevator on our check-out day - it literally took about ten minutes to show up on our 12th floor!

My husband and I took advantage of the deal to stay at Park Central. The location was excellent. Close to Times Square without being in it. Close to the Theater district, Central Park and Carnegie Hall. The hotel room was nicely furnished and the bedding was quite comfortable. The hotel staff were great. The only minus is that bottled water isn’t available and the coffee shop/convenience store inside the hotel has limited hours and we never saw the bar open.
