Overview

Located in the Gold Coast, the stylish Ambassador Chicago hotel is in "a great neighbourhood to stay in and feel like a wealthy Chicagoan" (Frommer's). Guest rooms at this hotel are outfitted in a minimalist cream-and-white colour palette with bright pinewood accents, and features plush bedding, flat-panel TVs, marble-accented bathrooms and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the property.

Close to the hotel you'll find the clubs and lounges of Rush Street, the high-end boutiques of Oak and Walton Streets and during summer, the see-and-be-seen Oak Street Beach -- but thanks to being a couple blocks removed from main thoroughfares, the Ambassador Chicago still delivers a calm, relaxed neighbourhood feel when you walk out the front door.

Everything was very wonderful.

We came for 2 days of Christmas shopping in Chicago and chose the Ambassador for our stay. It was much farther from the Michigan Ave. shops than we thought it would be. There was no ambiance as far as the room was concerned. It was stark white, beds were very low to the floor, bathroom very small. Everything was very clean and the staff were all very nice. Although we will not go back, I would never tell anyone not to stay here. It just was not the right fit for us.

Each time we walked into the foyer we were hit with an obnoxious sweet, flowery scent, particularly noticeable when coming in off the street. We were sure they were trying to cover up an unpleasant oder. KUDOS TO THE KITCHEN!!! Our breakfasts were delicious - best Avocado Toast ever. Thank you.

Had elderly MIL with us. Small bathroom, tall and deep bathtub only. All furniture was low to ground making it difficult for here.

For an old building, it’s very nice. Current amenities with historic charm. Staff was more than helpful. Really enjoyed walking back and forth to my training a bit south.

Friend and I went for girls trip. No problems with our reservation and it was a great hotel for the price. Our $25.00 basically was nice to put toward our breakfast. Thank you Travelzoo!

Service was professional and accommodating. Room updated, very clean, and comfortable beds. Bathroom could use more storage space, but doable. Easy to get coffee downstairs. Great location!

The neighborhood was nice. There were plenty of places within walking distance. The bed itself was comfortable, which was the only thing that redeemed my stay.

My room overlooked some sort of weird courtyard that was enclosed by other buildings/apartments. It was extremely hot and humid the day I arrived and the heat was on when I first entered the room. I turned the A/C on, but no air was flowing. I realized it was because the floor-length curtains covered the only A/C vent in the entire room. The options for nighttime/sleeping were: close the curtains and sleep in a boiling hot room or keep the curtains open and have lights from other apartments/sun in the early morning shining right in my face. (I tried buying a sleep mask, but don't find them comfortable at all.) The bathroom was also exceptionally tiny. The "fitness center" was in the basement in an extremely small room. There were two treadmills and a single elliptical machine. There also were pretty much zero dining options actually at the hotel. I had to go off-site to eat.

This is a very nice, historic hotel near great restaurants and high-end shops. The location is walking distance to the train station and far away enough for a quiet, peaceful stay. The room is a bit small but do you really need a big room when you're out exploring the city? The room is clean, the bedsheets are soft, no coffee machine or free coffee in the lobby. My only complaint is the white curtains which doesn't keep the room dark enough if you want to sleep in. Overall, I would recommend this charming hotel.

Great Boutique style hotel. Staff was efficient and welcoming.

Rooms via Travelzoo were a good value. Purchases at the hotel were very expensive. $67 overnight parking and $5.00 coffee. Would have like a coffee maker in the room.
