The bed really was terrible, very hard and the springs really made noise and were in poor shape. The walls were paper thin. The rooms were hot and you can’t open windows. We could open the patio door but couldn’t lock the screen door.

We have stayed here before and enjoyed the tranquility of the place and the setting being close to water. It was a wonderful getaway for our 34th anniversary where we enjoyed many of the amenities that they offer. Would go back.

Pacific Shores is located on Craig Bay with a well maintained garden. It offers nice amenities such as indoor pool, hot tub, sauna to relax. It also has a gym or you can play pool, ping pong or pickle ball - lots of options to choose from.

If you have poor expectations about quality and service, then this is the place for you. From the restaurant ("accommodate seven people? Sorry, even though we're 99% empty right now, we can't be bothered to push two tables together) to the jail cell-like rooms (no color, no carpet, no pictures on the wall, and TINY), to the unhelpful service ("the grills are out of propane? We'll get to it tomorrow; use the other ones. Oh, those are out of propane, too? We'll get to it tomorrow when we do the first ones"), to the other guests (a guy upstairs from us ended up calling the police on his 'neighbours', a nice couple that were physically fighting and screaming at each other when the woman wasn't busy prancing around topless) and, although this wasn't an issue for me, I heard maybe half a dozen complaints about no A/C).

A beautiful spot. Room had been redone so it was quite nice. Only thing negative was the bed was too soft, so not too comfortable, but other than that everything was great.

Very friendly staff. The rooms are not soundproof so to cut down on the noise we put towels along the bottom of the entrance door as well as the locked door to the adjoining room. That seemed to help. The front desk does not open til 8 so couldn’t grab a coffee from their lobby before heading out for the day. They do supply a few coffee pods with the in room Kuerig so just have to remember to go to lobby to pick up more each day. No biggie.

Really enjoyed the hot tub and the room was fine.
Kids around the hot tub and kiddie pool wasnt great but we had some quiet time there as well.
some children were snorkeling in the hot tub with the parent encouraging them- I didnt think that was healthy - maybe some new rule need to be listed. Directions to the resort would be helpful too. I am an artist here and if yo wanted more seascape prints for rooms I have them - BetsyRandel.com

I realize we used a "TravelZoo Deal", however with the apparent high vacancy rate in evidence, one would imagine we might have received better than cheapest room, as incentive for us to return. So, would we recommend and/or go back, well I'm rather ambivalent. As for the "patio", pretty sub-standard.

Our trip was end of February and there's snow on the ground. All the pathways were clear and salted around the immediate resort. The outdoor hot tub was a hit with the snow covered rocks around the tub. Out of the 60 or so rooms available it was at 50% capacity so it was quite a treat to mix with just a few other families staying here. Both staff we encountered were very good at their jobs. It's a treat to visit this place.

We had and enjoyable stay. The resort was well maintained with lots of amenities available. We enjoyed eating at the restaurant and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The location is great. The shower was very nice. The grounds were well kept and lovely.
This is the first time I've ever written a bad review. We had stayed at the Pacific Shores in the past and it was a very good experience.
Other Comments
The room was small and cold on arrival, the bathroom heat didn't work (unless you kept the door open to get the room heat into it - if you kept the bathroom door open you got light from the bathroom window coming in). When I told the front desk the next morning they said there was infloor radiant heating in the bathroom (there was nothing to indicate in room where to turn this on as it must have been managed separately from the room heat). We were given no instructions for where the Wi-FI password was (we found it on TV the unit in a very small not-obvious place). The toilet seat moved about when you sat on it, the bed creaked anytime you moved. There was nothing like art or anything to make the room cozy in the room. It looked like a dorm room. The Travelzoo price was good but getting a deal shouldn't mean having to put up with a bad room and pretty dismal experience. Very odd. I found out the Pacific Shores is under new management. Perhaps they could hire a hospitality consultant to help them turn it into a "resort" they are claiming it is.

The resort was easy to get to once you know your way. Our GPS sent us on the first available route, taking us on the grand tour. Then later dropping us off in the middle nowhere in the dark.
I would recommend this resort. The room was very nice. Had a little difficulty with poor internet but there are other things to do than watch Netflix when you get away from home.
Other Comments
The pool is so very warm. Unlike the pool down the road at Oceanside Resort where your joints ache with the cold. They sell season's passes to local people and there is a therapy class in the pool around noon. I was told that is why the pool is so warm. Hot tubs outside and in are very pleasant also.

The beds are truly worn out. You can see the indentation where people sleep through the blankets so pretty deep. The pillows are hard as rock. The fridge sounded like a truck was running in our room all night, we had to shut it off both nights to sleep. These are just simple updates that could be done to improve overall stay.
