"Staff very attentive, restaurant food delicious, room spacious and clean. Wear and tear to furniture, carpets etc., looking a little tired, but understand refurbishment is slowly in process. We were due to have a cooked breakfast on the Saturday but it was announced by the Government on the Friday we arrived that such organisations had to close their doors. We were informed the hotel would shut on the Saturday morning after all visitors had checked out at the approppriate time, therefore breakfast was unable to be provided. We were however given £15 off our evening meal to compensate. The hotel were in the process of contacting all the people who were booked in for future visits. We experienced no issues with this and all staff acted with professionalism."

Overview

Northop Hall is a 19th-century country house set within nine acres of private woodland and gardens in North Wales, 15 minutes' drive from the market town of Mold.

This Victorian property has retained some of its original features, including stained glass windows, a Canadian pine staircase, panelled walls and period fireplaces. The dining room has views over the grounds, and serves seasonal dishes prepared using locally sourced ingredients.

The hotel is in an ideal location for exploring both North Wales and parts of the north of England. Wepre Park, home to a waterfall, is a 20-minute walk from the hotel, and Ewole Castle -- a Grade I-listed ruinous fortress built in the 13th-century.

For days out, the walled city of Chester is a 20-minute drive away and Snowdonia National Park is less than a 45-minute drive away. The 870-mile-long Wales Coast Path is accessible within a 15-minute drive, while the Tatton Park estate -- which features a Georgian hall, a farm and landscaped gardens -- is less than 45 minutes' drive away.

Double rooms are spacious, with their own seating area and desks, and Premier Rooms provide guests with views of the gardens or surrounding landscape. Dogs are welcome for an additional fee, payable directly to the hotel.

Great place to visit, 20 mins from Chester, 15 mins from the lovely Loggerheads Country Park. Northop Hall is a great place to visit if you want to escape from the world for a while.

Overall very good and pleasing stay. Staff were very friendly and food was excellent. We were a little disappointed with our room as co tarry to the website our view was of the back of the kitchen and the associated noise from 5:30am. We had to pay for our wine on our first night as they said we were only allowed ‘bubbles’ compared to the Travelzoo email which clearly states ‘a glass of wine or Prosecco’. That said we would certainly use Northop Hall again.
