Why We Love It

  • Right next to Garibaldi Provincial Park, the hotel has views of the forest and surrounding mountains
  • The patio overlooks the park-like grounds, where it’s not uncommon to spot bears or deer
  • Condo-style suites have fully equipped kitchens and private balconies; some with mountain views
  • A one-hour drive from Vancouver and 40 minutes from Whistler

Located along one of North America’s most scenic drives, Squamish is a “destination all its own” and “year-round playground” (Lonely Planet).

The hotel is backdropped by Mount Garibaldi, an impressive snow-capped peak that's part of the Diamond Head area. Surrounded by the woods of Garibaldi Provincial Park and expansive park-like grounds, this hotel is in as natural a setting as you can find. In addition to numerous hiking trails connecting to the property, there's an outdoor heated pool and hot tub with views of the surrounding mountains. There’s also an on-site Tour Activity Desk, where guests can find out why Squamish is the self-proclaimed "outdoor recreation capital of Canada."

In the summer months, guests can take advantage of the hotel’s proximity to many Squamish activities. You can try your hand at white-water rafting -- Canadian Outback Rafting operates right out of the hotel. The local rivers and Howe Sound are also great for stand-up paddleboarding, windsurfing and kiteboarding. Nearby, you can hike the Stawamus Chief, which can be enjoyed by novices and pro rock climbers alike. If scaling a rock wall isn’t your idea of a vacation, there are plenty of hiking trails to the summit. There is also the scenic route via the Sea to Sky Gondola, which is open year-round.

Squamish winters are just as busy, with back-country skiers, snowboarders and snowmobilers taking advantage of thousands of trails and glacier valleys. If you want to try something closer to sea level, opt for eagle-viewing -- an annual tourist attraction -- when thousands of eagles descend upon the rivers.
