"Beautiful hotel, large spacious rooms. The staff are more on the young side and there customer service needs improvement. I don't know if they were thrown into the positions, but they don't tell you much or say much. However, key things to remember 1) You need your hotel key to go anywhere. You have to swipe it to get on the elevators from the lobby and to go up on the elevators. Also, you need the key to access the pool area. Once the door man is not at the front entrance, you need your key to swipe into the building at night. 2) If you don't click makeup your room, housekeeping will not come, 3) Read the booklet in the hotel room about when things are open and closed in the hotel. We had complimentary breakfast with this deal at their restaurant. It was delicious and filling. The restaurant has good offerings and is reasonably priced. We ate there for our last night. Since it was on a Friday, it was quiet and not crowded. Great experience, the hotel is in walking distance of the French Quarter, but far enough for you to get quiet in the Business District. We walked everywhere, no trolley or LYFTs. We were more adventurous to walk into the neighborhoods too. However, the area has a moderate amount of homeless as doe most cities. Also, there are sketchy people. So, just be aware when walking late. I was always with someone else."

Overview

The Jung is one of the most historic hotels in New Orleans, originally opened in 1907, but you wouldn't know it by looking at it -- the full renovation completed in 2018 completely updated the hotel into a "modern, upscale" hotel with "spacious and elegant" rooms (Oyster.com). Historical original touches can still be found, though, including a grand marble staircase in the lobby.

Rooms feature flat-screen TVs, Bluetooth alarm clocks with USB charging ports, Wi-Fi and daily in-room bottled water is complimentary. Deluxe rooms sit on the lower floors and feature one king or two queen beds, marble bathrooms with dual showerheads and pillowtop bedding. Superior rooms sit on higher floors with better city views, and Executive rooms are more residential in style with kitchenettes and washer/dryers.

Dining options include a lobby bar and coffee shop plus a restaurant serving Creole favorites like red beans and rice, shrimp and grits and penne pasta jambalaya. There's also a heated outdoor pool on the sixth-story rooftop, along with a seasonal bar for small bites and cocktails. The hotel hosts live music on Friday evenings and features a Champagne & Art tour of the hotel on Friday afternoons.

The Jung is located in a part of the Central Business District that most tourists don't regularly visit, but gives you easy access to streetcars, stadiums and the Tulane Medical District. Guests can be on Bourbon Street in a 10- to 15-minute walk from the hotel down Canal, and enjoying beignets at Cafe du Monde overlooking Jackson Square in just under a half hour.

We had an early flight and were allowed to check in a little after 9AM. We did have to ask for the breakfast vouchers but other than that a smooth stay. Breakfast was good, pool was awesome and the room was large.

This hotel is very nice. The king executive suite is very spacious. The pool area is nice and they had a complimentary dj when I was there. This hotel is on the quiet end of Canal St so it’s a few blocks from the action and that was perfect for me and my husband. We would just take the trolley or walk to French quarters. The breakfast was great as well. I would definitely recommend.

Very nice hotel, location is fine contrary to some reviews that deemed the area "sketchy" the hotel is proximate to the local attractions and no more "sketchy" than most typical downtown metropolitan areas

Fantastic hotel and rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel feels very upscale as do the rooms. Our room with 2 double beds was large and comfortable. The location on Canal St is close to the French Quarter, Super Dome, and other downtown New Orleans sites.
