Known as one of the oldest neighborhoods in Washington, D.C., the Foggy Bottom area borders the White House property and is considered home to some of the city’s most sought-after attractions. Spend time in this renowned area with a stay at the University Inn, previously more formally known as George Washington University Inn.

Spacious guest rooms average nearly 400 square feet and feature complimentary Wi-Fi access, flat-panel TVs, coffemakers and mini-fridges. Large picture windows showcase views of the city, and for those who love fresh air, the windows fully open - a nice rare find compared to most hotel rooms. Studio suites are even larger and have a separate living area.

Guests are just steps from the George Washington University and the Kennedy Center, and you can take a 20-minute hike along tree-lined streets to the restaurants of Georgetown and other shops along the Potomac riverfront. To explore beyond Foggy Bottom, take a three-minute stroll to the Foggy Bottom Metro Station which can take you anywhere in the nation's capitol you need to be.

Onsite dining is available at Notti Bianche, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner; there's also a pre-theater menu for prix-fixe dining, perfect for guests planning on attending events at the Kennedy Center. Nearby restaurants include the Michelin-recommended District Commons featuring upscale American cuisine, and the Zagat-rated Burger Tap & Shake for "a foodie take on fast food" (and don't miss the liquor-spiked milkshakes).

This cute little boutique hotel had a unique kind of charm. In a quiet neighborhood across from the University, but very close to the train station, and back in off the main road, which made for a quaint, peaceful stay. The room was HUGE. Slightly outdated, but we had more than we needed with a kitchenette, sitting area, and large, comfortable bed (and we are very particular about mattress quality). For the price, it would be a great place for a larger family to stay, even being slightly out of the way for most sightseeing attractions. I met my husband there, and stayed the first night alone, and felt perfectly safe in this unfamiliar city. It's a little walk to find food, but the restaurants we encountered were high quality and more than adequate. It's the kind of charming place everyone should experience at least once. The woman who checked us in (I wish I had written down her name!) Was extremely workable and sweet, especially as I arrived very late at night. They did their best to m

Our single complaint was that we were unable to adjust the thermostat as it is apparently controlled by hotel staff, and since the AC had been activated days before, we spent our first two nights freezing due to a cold front that plagued the city. They did provide extra blankets, but I hope someday they are able to address this issue. If a bit of a chill or extra heat won't be a bother, I recommend this hotel.

Location is great by the Foggy Bottom metro stop. Staff was very polite and friendly. Room was very large.

The room was chilly. I asked at the desk whether I could adjust the temperature, and was told that with just one unit heating the whole building and that not having been used in recent warm days, it takes a while to warm up (i.e., there was nothing I or they could do). They did kindly offer me an extra blanket, but room temperature is important to me.
