The Waterfront Hotel, Spa & Golf is set in 380 acres of countryside, midway between Cambridge and Milton Keynes. Its 18-hole golf course runs alongside the banks of the River Great Ouse, and its Waterfront Restaurant & Bar is praised by The AA for its "casual brasserie-style dining with pleasant views".
The hotel is part of Wyboston Lakes Resort, so stays include access to the resort's Health & Leisure Club. Facilities include a swimming pool and a gym; 1Life classes are included in your stay, too.
The Y Spa has received a coveted 5-bubble rating from The Good Spa Guide for its "fabulous indoor/outdoor wet and thermal spa". It has 11 treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy pool, a thermal spa, mist showers, steam rooms and two relaxation areas. Spa access is an extra £30 per person (the resort recommends prebooking; additional fees apply for treatments).
The hotel is also a great base from which to explore the local area. The Lodge RSPB reserve is approximately 15 minutes' drive away and has a rich combination of wildlife and heritage experiences. Its landscape of woodland, heath and grassland covers 220 hectares and is home to the great spotted woodpecker and large flocks of wintering thrushes. The Lodge has two ancient hill forts dating back to the Iron Age, as well as a new cycleway.
Grafham Water, a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest, and home to a variety of wildlife and popular for sailing, fly fishing and cycling, is roughly 20 minutes' drive away. The university City of Cambridge is roughly 40 minutes' drive.
