Falkensteiner Hotel Belgrade is a high-rise modern property in Serbia's capital, which Lonely Planet calls "one of the most happening cities in Europe".
The hotel is in Belgrade's Novi Beograd (New Belgrade) district -- you can reach Stari Grad (Old Town) in around 10 minutes by taxi (approximately £4-£6) or 40 minutes by public transport. Alternatively, you can take an hour-long stroll along leafy Nikola Tesla Boulevard and across the Branko Bridge.
In the Old Town you'll find the city's main landmark and most visited attraction, Belgrade Fortress. Built between the 1st and 18th centuries, it consists of the old citadel and Kalemegdan Park, and towers over the Sava and Danube rivers.
From here you can follow the main walking street of Knez Mihailova to the Terazije (the central town square) and beyond, to some of the city's other attractions -- the Nikola Tesla Museum and the National Museum of Serbia are both within 15 minutes' walk of the square. You can also explore the cobbled streets, vintage shops and old-fashioned restaurants of Belgrade's bohemian quarter, Skadarlija, which is often compared to Paris's fashionable Montmartre district.
For dinner, you can sample local delicacies in the hotel restaurant, head to one of the authentic Serbian restaurants in the Old Town or people-watch from one of the trendy cafés along Strahinjica Bana.
Belgrade is a city well-known for its "exuberant nightlife" (Lonely Planet) -- we recommend a visit to one of its 300 floating bars and nightclubs, known as splavs, which are anchored along the river banks.
Hotel facilities include a spa with a sauna and a steam room, and a fitness area with panoramic views. Deluxe Rooms are more spacious than Superior Rooms and have a seating area. Wi-Fi is free.
