In June 2017, Hotel the YARD -- a small, chic hotel in a quiet residential area -- opened in Berlin’s district of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, on the border of the central Mitte district. A rarity in the city is the hotel garden, which was the inspiration for the name YARD.
The restaurant is decorated with light wood and large forest paintings on the wall. The benches by the window offer the most beautiful garden view. There's also a bar and a cosy lounge. The garden and the large green hotel terrace were designed by the well-known landscape architect Enzo Enea from Zurich. You can enjoy the sunshine here in the summer or recover from a city stroll with a cup of tea or coffee.
The hotel is within easy reach of Berlin's major attractions. Hallesches Tor Underground Station is a five-minute walk away, as is the Berlinische Galerie and the Jewish Museum -- one of the most frequently visited museums in Germany. Checkpoint Charlie, Friedrichstrasse and Gendarmenmarkt are around 15 minutes' walk away.
A modern, minimalist design has been paired with a high-quality interior featuring real wood. The 55 light and airy rooms also feature natural materials and some have views of the courtyard. Wi-Fi is free.
