The attractions of picturesque Provence are within easy access of Moulin de Vernègues, a traditional rustic-style lodging set amid lush plane tree-filled grounds. Located on the Pont Royal estate, right next to an 18-hole golf course designed by Seve Ballasteros, the hotel occupies a greenery-clad stone manor house dating from the 17th century, along with contemporary-design annexes. It’s a short drive from Parc naturel régional du Luberon, an expansive landscape known for its quaint villages, and scenic hiking and biking trails, and 15 minutes by car from the riverside village of La Roque d'Anthéron, home to a renowned summer piano festival. Both Aix-en-Provence and Avignon are approximately 40 minute’s drive from the hotel.
Moulin de Vernègues’s interiors mix together country house and modern styles, including an earth-toned lobby area characterised by stone flooring and painted wood-beamed ceilings. The lush gardens house a fountain, patios and an outdoor pool surrounded by trees and there’s an elegant restaurant with stuccoed walls and an imposing fireplace, serving regional cuisine and opening to a terrace. Guests can relax in the chic spa with its vaulted ceiling, which features a sauna, a Jacuzzi and a Turkish bath, and offers a range of massage and beauty treatments (fees may apply).
Overlooking the garden or the pool, the hotel’s 166 guestrooms are spread between the main manor house and the newer outbuildings. All are decorated in neutral tones with wood furnishings and have free Wi-Fi and TVs. Higher tariff rooms come with extra space and private patios, whilst polished suites sleep up to four people and add living areas with sofabeds; some also offer minibars.
