The Plaza Hotel & Casino dates back to 1971, when superstars like Jerry Lewis and Tom Jones ruled Las Vegas, but the historic downtown property was once in line for demolition before being completely revamped in 2011. A multimillion-dollar rooftop pool opened in 2016, and this summer, the hotel unveiled five hotel suites with direct access to the pool deck. The Fremont Street Experience is directly outside the hotel’s front door, offering around-the-clock shopping, dining and gambling options.

Guest rooms include one king or two queen beds, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and desks. Guests can upgrade to rooms looking out at Fremont Street or the Las Vegas Strip. Suites have king beds, marble bathrooms and wet bars with Keurig coffeemakers while families and groups can reserve larger accommodations with up to two private bedrooms. The penthouses with views of the Strip and spa bathrooms with Jacuzzi tubs.

All stays include complimentary access to the rooftop pool, one of the largest in downtown, with a hot tub, cabanas, cocktail bar, food truck and games like foosball and pingpong. New furnishings were added to the pool deck this year resulting in what the Plaza calls a “retro Palm Springs-meets classic downtown Las Vegas” vibe. As the sun sets, the party starts on the pool deck where guests 21 and over can swim and dance under the stars to the music of live DJs.

Former mayor Oscar Goodman's eponymous steakhouse offers a daily happy hour in the lounge, where a pianist performs on a baby grand. For a casual meal, guests have the choice of breakfast or hamburgers and milkshakes at Brightside or oversized portions at the popular Hash House a Go Go. Live bands and entertainers can be found on stage each evening at Omaha Bar and Lounge, located on the casino floor. Gamblers have 24-hour access to slot machines, table games, bingo and over 75 screens for sports wagering.

Rooms very old, lots of noise, huge lights shining into room, asked for blanket twice and waited over an hour and a half before giving up. No in room amenities.

Not enough staff at Check in. Picking up a vehicle was slow as there was only one person to assist all guests who were renting a vehicle or returning a vehicle.

Hotel was outdated. Beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable, I didn’t sleep well at all. Felt like I was laying directly on springs! Bathroom was way too small. There was only one small mirror.

Love the casino's blackjack tables. Updated rooms were nice - glad I didn't have one facing Fremont St. The noise was very loud!
