The Greenway Hotel & Spa is a 16th-century Elizabethan manor house, "peacefully located in a delightful setting within easy reach of the many attractions of the Cotswolds" (The AA Hotel Guide 2019). The 4-star property is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, which describes it as "a relaxing bolthole on the outskirts of Regency Cheltenham".
The centre of Cheltenham -- home to "many graceful Regency buildings and manicured squares" (Lonely Planet) -- is less than 10 minutes' drive from the hotel or 20 minutes away by bus, while the town's famous racecourse is around 15 minutes' drive away.
The Daily Telegraph describes the hotel as "a classic country house hotel with an emphasis on relaxation". Its facilities include the Elan Spa, which has treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy pool, a fitness suite, a sauna and a steam room. There is also an al fresco hot tub, a boutique and a champagne nail bar (fees apply).
Outside, there is a large garden with walk-through yew hedges, a lily pond and a croquet lawn.
The 3-AA-Rosette Garden Restaurant, which features oak panelling, a grand fireplace and views of the grounds, is "the venue for excellent eye-catching dishes, proudly served by dedicated and attentive staff", says The AA. Other dining options include the Orchard Brasserie, which has views of the spa gardens, and the lounge, where traditional afternoon tea is served.
Superior Rooms have king, twin or double beds and are in the main house. Wi-Fi is free.

We were thrilled to be upgraded on arrival and the staff were wonderful on check-in and checkout. Food was amazing on the travelzoo deal with the canapés and amuse bouche.

Most enjoyable luxury for a few days. Nothing was too much trouble and the chef
came up trumps with an extra dish that was unasked for.
All staff smiling and helpful.

An excellent break. Highly recommended. The hotel was very pleasant. Nice residents' lounge. Spacious, comfortable bedroom/bathroom (apart from the uncomfortable pillows). Friendly, helpful staff. Above all, our dinner was truly outstanding.

Amazing 2 night break perfectly situated for touring around the Cotswolds. Room was lovely very comfortable with a separate shower and bathroom. The staff are excellent and very helpful. The extra touch of canapés with our pre dinner drinks made it just perfect.

If you plan to have a treatment in the spa during your stay I would advise to book before you go. We did and were lucky they had availability. Non residents use the spa it wasn’t crowded but because of this availability can be short.

Absolutely fantastic, booked as a stopover on the way to the NEC, the whole experience was great. The room was beautiful, the spa was an added bonus and helped us to really chillax. The dinner was out of this world and probably the best meal I have ever had. We would have stayed on if we hadn't booked at the NEC. We will be returning here on our way North again.

We were celebrating my wife's birthday and thoroughly enjoyed the experience although we had written to you to advise that my wife was Gluten Free and despite you confirming you had sent my email on to the hotel they did not appear to have any knowledge of her requirements when we arrived for our evening meal. Otherwise the room was superb as was the spa facilities.

This hotel is simply first class in every way. The staff are exceptionally well trained and knowledgeable, and helpful at all times. The food was excellent on both evenings we dined and a good selection of wines to accompany. We will most certainly return, it proved to be the perfect location for our short break, which we will extend next time.

The only possible downside was the lack of a lift, as we are both "silvertops", but the staff were there to take our luggage, leaving us to haul only ourselves to the second floor room.

On arrival we found we had been allocated a annexe room in the gate lodge which is not what we had booked. We complained to the duty manager and he was able to move us to a more superior room in the hotel. This was a very satisfactory outcome and meant we could enjoy our Anniversary stay. We think that it should be pointed out to customers if they have been allocated a room away from the main hotel building before arrival !!! Once this was sorted we had a very satisfactory stay and would recommend this Hotel.

Beautiful hotel & grounds all very well kept. Our room was well decorated, clean & spacious. Appreciated extra touches such as fresh fruit in room. All staff friendly and very helpful.

Our only criticism is that both the menus (the Market Menu & the Seasonal Menu) offered each evening we’re the same, as were the canapés & amuse bouche. It would have been good to have a variation. Also there were no vegetables served with main courses. The food we had however was very good & we enjoyed it.

The menu was very limited and anything that varied was an extra. The portion size for the vegetarian menu was extremely small and quite disappointing. We had lunch but the tablecloth was removed because we were not having a afternoon tea - very strange! We would have liked room in the original manor house but we were put in a coach house above the spa and we had a very long wait before it was ready. It was my birthday so it was very disappointing.
