Belle-Isle sur Risle is a 19th-century château in Normandy set on an island surrounded by the River Risle.
The 4-star manor is 30 minutes' walk (or five minutes' drive) from the town of Pont-Audemer, where you can explore the medieval streets and half-timbered houses. Guests can also hire kayaks and bikes from the hotel to explore the local area.
The property is 30 minutes' drive from the "picturesque Norman port" (The Daily Telegraph) of Honfleur, a town immortalised in the Impressionist paintings of Monet, Courbet, Sisley and Boudin. Cafés, restaurants and galleries line the streets here, together with "timber-framed houses, slate-grey facades, buttermilk-white beaches and Wedgwood blue skies" (The Daily Mail).
The twin seaside towns of Deauville and Trouville-sur-Mer are 45 minutes' drive from the hotel. Deauville is known for its designer boutiques, public gardens, grand casino and 1920s boardwalk, while Trouville-sur-Mer is "both a veteran beach resort, graced with impressive mansions from the late 1800s, and a working fishing port" (Lonely Planet). It's also home to a 2-kilometre-long sandy beach.
There is a swimming pool and a fitness room and a small spa, a sauna and a hammam (extra charges apply).
The restaurant features in The Michelin Guide 2017 and serves French specialities, with a seasonal tasting menu.
Wi-Fi is free.
