About the Hotel
Why We Love This Hotel
- This 5-star hotel has won Condé Nast Traveler Reader's Choice Award for best hotel in Switzerland
- Roger Moore, Mark Twain and Richard Wagner have all stayed here
- The spa has panoramic views of the lake and mountains
The Hotel Schweizerhof is set on the lake promenade in Lucerne, the historic "city of lights". The 5-star family-run hotel is a beautiful 19th-century Neo-Renaissance building that holds regular world-famous cultural events such as the Rose d'Or Festival.
Since it opened in 1845, guests have included writers Mark Twain and Leo Tolstoy, composer Richard Wagner and James Bond actor Roger Moore. There is a book with stories from their stays in each room. Rooms and suites are air-conditioned and offer views of Lake Lucerne or the Alpine panorama from their balconies. Suites have a living room and chandeliers.
The Galerie restaurant has a beautifully intricate ceiling. We reccommend trying one of the seasonal creations from the à la carte menu. You can enjoy a drink in the chic piano bar or dine on the sun terrace overlooking the lake on a sunny day.
The spa and fitness area has views over the old town and the lake. Here you can relax in the sauna with a sensory shower or work out with the latest gym equipment. Afterwards, you can treat yourself to a relaxing massage or a flower bath.
Travelzoo tip: Visit the hotel's Christmas market on the first three Sundays in December. You will find a large selection of local products and crafts.
