Everything about the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego screams hip and modern -- from the electric-blue ambient lighting in the lobby to the shiny dark surfaces and luxe patterned textiles throughout. Rooms are chic with dark flooring and wood, boldly patterned rugs and sleek furnishings. Hard-core pop music fans can stay in the suite designed by Grammy-winning band The Black Eyed Peas, filled with memorabilia and merchandise from the group.
The hotel has two on-site clubs: the lounge-like 207 and the pool party scene at rooftop Float. There’s also an outpost of the wildly popular Asian-Latin fusion restaurant Nobu and a late-night modern diner called Maryjane's.
Step outside the hotel to walk around the Gaslamp Quarter, a historic area filled with restaurants, live music venues and bars. Animal lovers can drive 10 minutes to the San Diego Zoo, home to more than 3,700 animals, including giant pandas and polar bears.
