Constructed in 1902 by a troupe of 250 skilled Italian craftsmen, the Omni Mount Washington is burrowed in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, within the stunning White Mountain National Forest. The property's iconic red roof adorns an imposing white exterior, while the expansive, perfectly manicured grounds help to create the "grandeur of a bygone era" (AAA).
With an impressive number of activities available, visitors may need to hunt for time to experience all the resort has to offer -- or visit once each season. Depending on the season, guests can play on a championship golf course designed by Donald Ross; hit the slopes of New Hampshire's largest ski area; go horseback riding or on a carriage ride; rally on the tennis courts; explore the hiking trails; or get an adrenaline rush while zip-lining on a canopy tour. A 25,000-square-foot spa located on site offers mountain views and uses local botanicals for treatments.
The hotel's interior is just as grand with crystal chandeliers, Tiffany stained glass, high-reaching ceilings and cozy New England decor. Rooms are comfortable; some feature updated marble bathrooms and gas fireplaces. All accommodations have flat-screen TVs and Wi-Fi access.
During mealtimes, guests can visit the comfortably-welcoming AAA 4-Diamond Main Dining Room or the casual on-site steak and chophouse before heading to the Prohibition-style speakeasy The Cave for a nightcap and live entertainment or to catch a televised game.
